Mower Won’t Start? Easy Fix! Zero Turn Hustler Raptor Mower review after 5 seasons of use. Exoman determines that the battery is good and so he jumps the Solenoid to get the mower started

The exact same thing happened to my exact mower. Thanks for explaining how to diagnose; i did have to watch this 6 times to make sure but It got it figured out.

Have a Hustler Raptor also. Great mower and the 2nd Raptor I've owned. Had to replace the spindles and the belt on the first one. So far I am completely happy with the Hustler brand

May help to store mower out of the rain. With all of the deck rust, apparent mower is being left out in the weather. Mower is bogging down due to bad bearings in spindles and idler pulleys. Can rebuild for less than $7 each or replace for $27 each for spindles and $17 for idler pulleys. Hint: You mentioned you replaced the belt. With the rounded edges showing on a new belt is a tell that mower is experiencing drag from the bad bearings that are like driving a car with the park brake engaged. Um did you not noticed she tried to start it with the handles in and not locked? The safety won't allow it to start unless they're in the parked position.

Perfect video for my issue of not starting. I was able to bypass the seat wires, like you showed. I used a screwdriver to complete the circuit on the solenoid, to start it. I then replaced the solenoid and that was the issue!

Help us understand. If you were able to jump your mower off Solenoid to start it-- how could your Solenoid be bad? You replaced your Solenoid. But if it were bad, seems jumping the mower off Solenoid would "not" start up mower. Your mower started-- wouldn't that mean your Solenoid was "good"?

I have a 2017 raptor. I've had to weld the frame 2 or 3 times. It broke on the back allowing the drive belt to come off the pulleys at the top. Bought a fastrak last year and it's so much better.

I personally engaged my sd48 many times n ruined my deck. I took all pulleys off n reinforced the deck with plating and now it’s fine. Also local hardware store had the sealed bearings for all spindles.

Nice solenoid jump idea. The seat switch bypass is the first thing I do on my mowers. That pulley, did the bearing look ok? If so and if the deck was bent/weakened there, weld a backer plate under it. Besides that, I look no where near as nice as Jen when I mow. Or when I don't. Thanks for sharing.

I have to have the seat switch because when I mow with the roll bar down and I have to have the seat belt off, I could fall off, due to a movement condition I have.

I thought a penny and a lock grip was the standards solenoid bypass.

Same scenario here as in your video. Turn key, nothing. Bypassed Seat Safety. Jumping off Solenoid now gives cranking at least but just can't get her to turn over. Any tips? Signed, Stranded in my lower acre! P.S. When you are jumping it at [6:10] the ignition key is obviously turned "ON" (middle position) correct?

Sometimes the zero turn mower will get out and it's always funny to find the zero-turn moving about on the trailer when it's supposed to be in its box

I have the same mower ! run the rpms up and it wont drag the (engine) motor . If ya look back she didnt have the handles in the start position ! wont start, wife does the same thing . the pulley is angled so when u lift the deck height it will match n not jump the belt !

Finally got her to start (using needlenose Wire Cutters that, ironically, I too found in the street!). Got mower back into garage. When I shut off engine, then for kicks tried firing her up again (the regular method, not jumping off the Solenoid)-- first nothing, then crank-no-start, then finally started up. Do you think Seat Safety Switch, or the Solenoid is going bad or your guess?

I think there may be a few different safety switches and one or two need cleaning. Good luck.

Logical thinking. Why should a homeowner spend more money on a commercial type of mower when just a residential type will cut the grass as the same. It's not like you are out mowing for a business. The homeowner just needs to mow the lawn once or twice a week. It's not being used every day. Great points Exoman.

Mower won't start when the handlebars are pulled in like when she was on the mower and tried to start it. The parking brake is integrated with the handlebars. It started when you tried because the handlebars were out in the parked position.

Hi Jen & Exoman! 🖐😊 I noticed that your mower was made in Hesston. Back on March 13th, 1990, they had a nasty tornado hit there, in Hesston. It was an "F5", & destroyed several homes, & unfortunately took a few lives with it. 😔 Anyway, that's only about an hour & 20 minutes west/southwest of where I live. 😊

Help. When you jump using Solenoid, is ignition key in On position. Never done this. Seems it'd be On.

I've had cars I had to jump the solenoid to run, Good tip though, hopefully save a few people from running out for a new battery when that's not the problem, I'm going to watch the other part, that pulley looked seriously bent

My solution would have been as follows: First kick the bejabbers out of it. Then if that did not work, I would call a repairman. So simple. I bet you never thought of that.

I bought a mower from a guy at work that had a small engine repair shop. That damn thing spent more time in my pickup than it did in the yard. I got it back with the “It’s running good now” promise. Got it back home and filled with gas. Tried it again and all I got was a bicep work out. I seriously thought about getting the.357 and giving it a few extra holes to help it breath. But I thought about the gas and decided that I really didn’t need the fire department and all that explaining. So I just kicked it a couple of times. Snap off the spark plug with one of the kicks. And made sure that the air cleaner was in the straight up position. Threw it in the truck and then DROPPED it off in his yard. I limped for like three days. But somehow I sure felt better.

Sir you are a lucky man you have got a gorgeous wife and she seemed really nice and you have a really nice looking property there I like how you put that gorgeous woman in there in the bikini to get more viewers that was pretty slick of you or you were just showing off what you got and I can't blame you there she definitely got a rocking bud and deserves to wear that bikini good job kudos to you both
