This morning I watched a fascinating (and rather tragic) series of interviews conducted by Journalist Moya Lothian-Mclean in the constituency of Ashfield. This moment stood out above the rest...

Interesting. You picked up on the 'stable' comment and it was actually a famous Bernard Manning joke, a powerful peace of racial propaganda and made a lot of people speechless over the years. I;ve heard it repeated often. That statement may be true for stables and horses but isn't true for people and nations: if you are born here you are English, unequivocally. The lady should've understood the interviewer was English the moment the interviewer opened her mouth but facts don't seem to influence people very much anymore. I hope you don;t take umbrage but do you have any Welsh relatives? The way you roll your r's.

I *am* Welsh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Despite posh university and living in England for decades, it's still there in the vowels and R's (and of course when speaking gymraeg) ❤

This isn't true though. English is an ethnicity just like any other, which means it is defined by ancestry/genealogy. It's not the same as being a citizen of the UK. This has been the case for all of history.

@@alexdunphy3716 for most people whose grandparents and great-grandparents were born in England they have large lumps of Welsh genes in their genetic makeup as well as Northern European genes (Anglo-Saxon). Plus bizarrely Iron Age French. You think you can untangle that and make some sort of case for an English race? You can make a case for Englishness and that is based on (take your pick): football, cricket, real ale, lager, loyalty to the crown, support of the armed forces, a belief in the British union, curry as a national dish, steak and kidney pudding, trade unionism, the NHS, a sense of humour, fair-play, keynsianism, rowing your own canoe, tolerance, etc. But above all it is trying to tolerably speak English with one of the English accents and affirming loyalty to your community in one of three ways: swearing loyalty to the king, legally affirming to obey British laws, or co-operating with your community. As far as ancestry goes the Romans had a saying: no one knows their own father. I do, but no one else does. What this means is that an idea of English ancestry is riddled with marrying (or dallyin with) people they shouldn’t have. I have no idea if this is the right stealing the clothes of wokery or not but please do some research on genetic make-up of Britons.

@@AllotmentFox easy lol. English as an ethnicity is the result of the general genetic shift that took place because of the Anglo-Saxon invasion into Britain, which is the primary driving force behind why the genetic make up of the territory called "England" was the way it was for the past thousand years. Danish and French admixture into the population is of course detectable since they spent the last thousand years as neighbors but it isn't at a level where it actually has much of an impact especially since these groups are so incredibly similar genetically to begin with. English and England literally comes from the terms Angle/Anglish and Angleland. Literally the land belonging to the Angles. Ethnicity is literally just a extended family/kin group. Idk why it's so confusing for people these days.

@@AllotmentFox you seem to have fallen for the "woke's" rewriting of history believing there was much more mixing and ambiguity in history then there really was. They play fast and loose with the results of data to try to spin it to justify the pro-mass migration status quo. When you actually look at he data you get a different picture. Just because something is detectable doesn't mean it's significant. Quantity/magnitude matters. The Anglo-Saxon invasions was the last major shift in the genetic make up of the British Isles up until the current wave of mass migration, and the mix between the Anglo-Saxon tribes and the Post-roman Celtic britons is was created the English ethnicity. The history was always super clear cut on this and the genetic research backs this up.
