Oh look I'm doing reviews now! Finding a cube suitable for myself has always been important to me. I never thought "oh i'd be sub-9 with a great cube", because my speed is not the cube's fault. But cubing is more fun and you can perform better when you're confident in your hardware.

Hello J Perm (and other experienced cubers) I started speed cubing in Christmas (3 weeks ago) and I'm really enjoying it. Your videos are really helpful so thank you for that. I recently bought a GTS2M which is a vast improvement from the original Rubik's cube I have but I'm finding it quite hard to control as it seems to want to do its own things at times. Obviously it's due to my inexperience. In the mean time, would you be able to recommend another cube to me so I can practise with which allows better control? To give you an idea, I use your beginner's method and how to solve faster videos and my solves usually take around 2 mins. Thank you for your time. Tom

Vybez Hi Vybez, thank you so much for your reply. I'll take a look at the cube. I've heard great things about the GAN XS. Would that be a good cube to go for? So I can customise it however I want? The main negative most people say is cost but speed cubes last a long time right? So rather than keep search for the right cube why not just get the XS and customise? Isn't this the case for everyone? Am I missing something? Thanks

hey can you please do a tutorial on how to create an F2L pair? cos when i solve i usually get sub 1:20 (i just started solving 2 weeks ago dont judge) and when i use f2l and try to make a pair i get sub 2:00

the magnets are weak enough that it wont bother your turning, but strong enough that it helps you align the layers between turns. thus it gives stability and you'd lock up less

So, i'm kinda stuck in high 13- low 14, and have no idea what to improve on. I don't know full oll yet, but it doesn't seem to be the reason behind me not improving. (Plus i'm lazy at learning algs). I know about half of the coll, very few ollcp:s and overall my last layer seems ok. My f2l has a lot of pauses and i have no idea how to practice f2l lookahead. Are there any effective ways of practicing lookahead and cross to f2l transition? thanks!

for cross to f2l transition, i just made a video on that and it's essentially a matter of brain power to track and remember where pieces will go during the cross. i have tips to make tracking easier in that video. for looking ahead, make sure you incorporate some good habits like deliberately looking away from your current pair, and trying to do back slot inserts more often so that useful pieces will be in the front. let me know if you have any questions!

I'm also kind of where you are, in low thirteens, and if you haven't seen Chris Olsens vid on slow solving, I would recommend that. Whenever my look ahead starts getting bad I just do about 50 slow solves and then you can get even better times. Also just practice a lot. And you're not the only one who is slow at algs. I'm almost done with oll after two months😆

i usually don't script videos unless it requires detail and structure like this one. i wrote the script for the entire review part and then filmed based on what i thought should show up as i talked. usually i dont write scripts for tutorials though. one thing about scripts is you have to talk way more enthusiastically to make it sound like you're not dying LOL

I would like to learn full CFOP but the ludicrous amount of algorithms seems very daunting. How did you go about learning all of them and how long did it take you?

2-look OLL can take you very far, and with full PLL, that's a total of 31 algs. full PLL is a challenge, but full OLL is actually not bad. it took me a month or two, but they were really easy to remember since many of them are super short or mirrors of each other.

normally slower cubes for harsh turning, but if you like strong magnets and fast cubes, then I recommend the GTS3m

+Pancakes Yeah it makes me lock up less and has a feeling that's difficult to describe. If you haven't tried magnetic cubes before you should find a way to try it to see for yourself (like at a comp)

So I've just recently become CN after a month and a half to 2 months of practice, and for all of those experienced CN solvers, after you see a good cross do you just go with it, or do you look at all 6 crosses every time? Because I struggle when I give myself inspection time (which I normally don't), and does it just become natural and faster to analyze all 6 crosses every time, or do you stop searching once you see one that's decent?

+Andrew Kimmey Typically find at least an edge attached to the cross and lean towards that one. If it's horrible right away, I switch. If it's decent, I stick with it.

Hi Jperm! I’m thinking of getting a new main, but I can’t decide between the GTS2M WCA and the Weilong 2019 or 2021 or the Gan Air SM 2019. I have quite accurate turning and don’t rely on corner-cutting. I currently use a Valk Elite but I want to change mains because I don’t really like the feel. So I would appreciate it if you could help me by giving recommendations.

No, i used to use white cubes because i thought they looked nicer, but then i changed my mind and got black cubes. Plus, more people use black cubes so i can use other people's cubes more easily now.

traxxas 50k, maru lube, and tensions so that 30 degree corner cuts are very easy
