Mozart probably composed this piece in 1781 when he was in Munich for the staging of his new opera Idomeneo. The work was, perhaps, written for the Mannheim oboist Friedrich Ramm who was in the group of wind-players for whom Mozart had earlier written the Sinfonia Concertante K297.
This late 1960's performance was by the Irish quartet, The Telemann Ensemble.
Lindsay Armstrong [oboe], Thérèse Timoney [violin], Máire Larchet [viola], Aisling Drury-Byrne ['cello].
