Hey guys! It's a bit unusual that we're posting classical music on this channel, but we thought you guys might like this one! :) Marnie first played this piece when she was about 7 years old. It's been one of her favorites ever since and she thought it would be a fun one to record for her solo album. If you like this video, please head over to our other channel, Brooklyn Classical and subscribe there - we'll be posting lots of classical videos in the next few weeks and we'd love for you to join us.
As we mentioned, you can hear this piece on Marnie's solo album, along with more favorites by Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, and Debussy. Check out the links in the description, or find the album anywhere you get your music (just type in "Brooklyn Classical"). Thanks so much...we hope you enjoy it! We'll see you this weekend for a regular Brooklyn Duo video :)

Brooklyn Duo Bio:
Founded in 2014, Brooklyn Duo has quickly established itself as one of today’s most successful classical crossover ensembles. Through its creative arrangements and live video performances, the piano and cello duo has garnered a huge following, with over 600,000 KZfaq subscribers, and over 150 million streams annually on platforms such as Spotify and Pandora Radio.
On a whim, the couple arranged and recorded two pop covers and released them on KZfaq. Shakira noticed the duo’s cover of her song Empire and promoted it to her 130 million-plus fan base, saying: “We're loving Brooklyn Duo's piano/cello cover of Empire! Great work guys." The boost that resulted from that exposure and the positive response they were getting on KZfaq encouraged the couple to continue creating videos.
Since then, Marnie and Patrick have released over 80 videos on their Brooklyn Duo KZfaq channel and 7 albums of covers, spanning artists from The Beatles to Metallica to Taylor Swift (who also tweeted about them, saying their cover of her song “Blank Space” sounded "like a song people should walk down the aisle to"). In 2016, the couple started a second KZfaq channel, Brooklyn Classical, with the goal of introducing classical music to a larger audience. With this new channel, Marnie and Patrick aim to showcase high quality, live performances of classical music. Brooklyn Classical often hosts high-profile guest artists, including the world-renowned Dover and Escher string quartets and percussionist Ivan Trevino.
In 2017, Marnie and Patrick partnered with Carnegie Hall and Ensemble Connect, a collective of some of the best young musicians in the U.S., to produce a cover of a-ha’s “Take On Me”. The video went viral and garnered millions of views in just a few months. Popular classical music stations Classic FM and WQXR regularly share Brooklyn Duo’s music on their social media pages, with Classic FM calling the duo “masters of the artfully planned pop cover.” One of their covers was also recently featured in an episode of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.

I was going to ask "about how long does it take to prepare a performance like this?" The answer "since I was 7" makes a lot of sense! Back in college I took a watercolor class and the instructor would always do a quick demonstration at the beginning of class. In about 5 or 10 minutes he'd do some amazing watercolor and whenever someone said "wow! and in only five minutes!" he'd say "Well, five minutes plus 40 years of painting everyday."

When I asked KZfaq for the Alla Turca it came up with at least 15 options by different musicians; this rendition was by far the most beautiful. Clearly phrased and articulated, a real pleasure to listen to. Thank you Marnie and whoever posted it.
@bikkies
@bikkies 5 жыл бұрын
I'm heartened to see phrasing and articulation being duly recognised. It's one thing to play the notes mechanically; you can program them into a machine. It's something quite different and sublime to have the ability to phrase the work, vary the touch, the pace, the tone; to invoke dynamism, to make the instrument sing with more than just the touch of your fingers. To make each recital unique and to make it your own. That requires the touch of passion, dedication, commitment and pure hard graft. I lack these attributes and that's why I can play what's written on the staves but I fall short on understanding and expressing what the ink on the page is truly trying to say.

For all the people who wish they could play like her, you can. Start practicing, the first six months will seem boring and tedious At times but stick with it and people will call you a sweat or a try hard but don’t listen. Sweat it out, pour everything you have into it if you really want it, and you will come out like this, it dosnet take twenty years, just a couple years of absolutely sweating it. I managed this in a year by sweating every day and people said I had no life and stuff but now they respect the effort I put in. And I promise you guys, this is possible and I was all you aspiring pianists and musicians the best of luck in your musical journey and just keep the fact that this is possible in your heart. All you have to do is try...

ah. probably my favorite piece of old music. at school, we used to urge our music teacher to play it on piano... again!! ...each time we had lessons with him. he was an accomplished pianist, giving live performances, and composing. :-)

Proof no one has invented a time machine yet, because mid to late 18th century Vienna would be packed with people. Beautifully played. I love it when Mozart is playful like this, and is basically saying, with all due respect to Bach, I am the King of music.
