Bit depth means the sample quantization resolution. Simply put, it is the number of bits with which each audio sample is recorded and reconstructed for playback. 16 bit depth is a decent sound resolution provide 96 DB of sound. Audio CDs had that resulution. 24 bit mostly used for film purpose which can reproduce 144 dB of sound. 32 bit is even more better, but most of our gadgets don't support 32 bit. Bottom point 16 bit is more than enough for a decent sound quality

@@stan5848 Do not get confused that this DB is loudness max it can achieve. it is basically Dynamic Range of the audio. More the bits more the levels of sound. In graphics 1 bit is just black or white. In music, dynamic range describes the difference between the quietest and loudest volume of an instrument, part or piece of music. In modern recording, this range is often limited through dynamic range compression, which allows for louder volume, but can make the recording sound less exciting or live.

When you convert analogue to digital it will become pure digital , no analogue portion is left as i said earlier in Audio cds all the content is in long string of binary not individual files . when you use good software and hardware you can get exact copy of what's written in cd and what written in cd and even if loss occours it will not be in tune of perceivable quantity . And to master CDs manufacturers use Wav format only , Many people claim ripping cd to pc will improve the sound quality

@@TechKannanMalayalam Absolutely wrong, google what a red book cd is all about if you are in doubt. Also know about what lpcm is all about. And I never said cd has analog, but lpcm which is not a normal pc digital file. If it was in a format easy to copy, manufacturers are not crazy to invest in expensive cd pressing machines than a simple pc. It's not the case. Also it's seen in many cases that cd player or a cd transport were sounding different than the same cd content rip. Reading from cd is not so straight forward, has to be at the sample rates and good clock hardware chips play a major role in that, hence good cd players shows a difference. You can keep on arguing on something which you haven't experienced, however I had tested it many a times, not only me, with the content that I mentioned earlier and found to have differences and it's not only me who are aware of this difference. Also your argument holds good only with newer recordings where the songs are recorded in pc wav format. Most of the cd recordings esp high quality recordings were having master tapes and recorded in analog, FYI. I am not talking about the most modern recordings that are high bit wav files from which the CDs were made. It was not the case with most high end recordings.

Manufactures invest in cd pressing machines for volume production, that's not related to ease of copying . They have to make millions of copies of CDs that's why they use cd press, imagine how much time it will take if the use pc and cd r s . if you play same cd in different players or different DACs it will sound different , the transport the electronics everything add to the sound signature . And which ever resolution of files you use to master the data written on the cd is only 44/16 . All those crazy expensive pressing system you mentioned can receive only digital data not analogue .
