MP4/4 Start Up

At the 2009 Goodwood festival of speed the team will be running Ayrton Senna's MP4/4, which last raced in 1988. The car is being prepared at the McLaren Technology Centre. As the mechanics re-acquaint themselves with an old friend.

I'd be really interested to see just how McLaren takes care of their old cars in terms of how many are kept in running order, how often do they run them, do they still make spare parts for them when things break, etc.

That 1.5L V6 turbo sounds so muted compared to the V10 and V12 Hondas that came afterwards.

Gordon Murray's brilliant low slung design had nothing to do with it? Hey, did you know that Lotus used exactly the same engine in 1988 as McLaren did? They ended the season a distant 4'th and never won a single race, even though three time champion Nelson Piquet was driving for them. You also need to realize this. Only 30% of the performance comes from the engine. A really good engine in a crap chassis won't win a single race, not even end up on the podium. It is common knowledge.

se essa realmente for a mp4/4 que ele ganhou em 88 vcs estarem entrando mexendo no cambio e etc, ta errado pq alguem vai ver o carro ai fala "o ultimo cara q sentou aq foi ayrton" ai esse cara vai la e senta no carro, porra acabou a tradição, nao vale 1 terço do q ele valia

the chassis is 100% carbon fibre. McLaren introduced full carbon cars in 1981.

I'm ignorant? Check the original comments and you'll see why I replied in that manner. Nothing against your country (I actually have a Romanian friend) but this person was making assumptions about my country so I gave him a taste of his own medicine.
