When you said you hadn't seen a more accurate Falcon, I assumed that was a cheeky reference to this kit being used in Empire. For the shot where the Falcon is stuck to the Star Destroyer, the movie-built models were too big to build a substantial amount of the SD's bridge around, so the smaller MPC model was done up by the model shop to get the shot, IIRC :) Oh, and both sets of landing gear are accurate, to an extent. The Falcon had three legs in the first movie, but it wasn't super stable on the "full-size" ship. To keep it standing up in Mos Eisley they had to add an extra steel beam underneath, then wrapped it in hosing to look like dangling connections. For Empire, the Falcon was retrofitted with the extra gear to make it more stable, and the models were modified to match. I think in Solo they had the ship start off with 5 and then break 2 of them through the movie as an easter egg for the model dorks.

Nope, didn't know about that. I know about the potato though.

I didn't notice that in Solo. On the other hand, for me the movie was "meh," so I wasn't paying close attention. Too much fan service.

I'm thinking of buying this online, when I was a child I went to my brothers room and found the kit... I ended up taking it and building it using only a hot glue gun and maybe scissors because I was a literal child and actually put the entire thing together. He was way older than me and tbh I feel bad that I even thought it was ok to take it from his room but he isn't here anymore and that makes me want to buy it and build it in his memory. I've only built Gundam kits but I think if I made it when I was a child then it should be really easy to do it again and this time I'll go more into detail. This video is a great review!

I've been subscribed to you for several years don't comment very much. I built several of those falcons over the years and gave them away. The person you have is from A New Hope and then empire and after had extra landing gear. Favorite scale is 118 for a course I've got the big millennium falcon. One day I would like to 3D print an actual 1/18th scale falcon then take Hasbro falcon electronics out and put in it.

Beautiful work on the model. I did models as a kid/young adult, but did just the standard paint. Your touches on the falcon add that extra flair. Bandai, has a set of small star wars models that look nice without painting, but I don't have the patience or dexterity either anymore to add those little details.

Thanks! A few others have mentioned the Bandai kits. Glad they're putting those out for people who aren't able to do the old school models anymore. Their Falcon looks amazing...but that price. Ouch!

Boy GREAT job on your build there. Mine is a bit gappy” here and there but looks good on display. It’s my Echo Base Falcon. Yes I’ve always been big on the Star Wars model kits. Because yes they are the most screen accurate. And it’s fun getting them to look like it. My secret weapon for stains and wear have been for many years cigarette ash and butts. Used a few on my Falcon. Yours looks great.

@@MichaelMercy You could start a new art movement with intentionally-misassembled model kits! This could be the start of something big, me lad! We'll be rolling in the moolah soon enough. $ $ $ $ $ $ ;)

I had one of these back in the day. The newer Bandai kits are sooooo much better, but I still have a soft spot for these older licensed kits.

I got into Gundam models a year ago. I started with a Furai Skywarp model that uses the same snap system as the Gundam kits. Then tried out a Gundam kit. I actually really liked it, and no paint or glue is needed. Bandai also has some Star Wars models kits that are like the Gundam kits you can just snap them together. I was looking at picking up a Boba Fett, and Slave One. I wish they would (or someone) make a Battlestar Galactica (2004 version) model kit. Mobius had a really good model out for awhile, and if you didn't want to build it. You had the option of buying professionally assembled and fully painted.

Snap-kits have come a long way. Glad there's that alternative for people who like building models but don't want to deal with glue anymore.

"In terms of screen accuracy".... there is of course no better kit than the Bandai Perfect Grade 1/72 Millennium Falcon and that was preceded by the next best thing a decade or so ago by the Finemolds model kit. There is a re-issue of this MPC kit released just this year, with lowered sidewalls and slightly smaller radar dish, which is a huge improvement on the old MPC kit. Of curse I built this one and as a kid I was elated when I got it, I have been repainting it and improving it over the years. I am now however finally building a Bandai Falcon and there is nothing like it. As for the landing gear,.... The Falcon had 3 landing struts in A New Hope, it got a few extra in The Empire Strikes Back. Oh yeah,... I ruined quite a few kits with the "lighter scoring" when I was a kid.... lol.

How do you feel about the Lego stuff specifically the ships? I’ve gotten into them a bit. I like the speed and ease of the build, compared to model kits. And I like the lego look of the finished product. Certainly not screen accurate. But kind artsy in their own way like a slightly abstract representation of the ship. I like everything but the PRICE😭 of course.

My favorite part about the scale is that, according to toy company logic, we have to take their word for it... 😄 🤣 📏 📐 Also, to your earlier mention, the Micro Machines SPACE Millennium Falcon transforming playset from 1995 is an amazing piece with TONS of fun inside, if you can get it complete.
