The mpc should have at least 32 gb . Memory doesn’t cost much at all these days . Or they could at least allow the ram to be upgraded by the consumer.

I said it on release day, that it would've made more sense for the special edition to have at least 8 gigs, and to have a more performant processor, for it to make any real sense (to me, at least). But the paint job is appreciated, still. That being said, I still prefer the classic color. scheme on the Live II Retro over the X SE. But that's more a preference thing.

I believe that like the smartphones these are all System on a Chip (SOC) meaning you can't just add more RAM the way you can for a desktop/laptop w traditional (non-soldiered in ) RAM . They'd have to design a new chip version and its expensive. But I still think they should allow you to swap that out / upgrade that card instead of selling you a whole new one

2 more gigs to unlock just two more tracks of Fabric XL is not much to pay over $300 for… there’s ways of working around that with the og X, though. Still, it’s a step in the right direction. We need to remember that most people who can afford the X, will likely have outboard synths they can midi up and record the audio into the X. This also reduces the amount of computing and processing the X (or any other MPC for that matter) needs to do. I’ve yet to come across producers who rely solely on AKAI’s plugins to make tracks. Thus: both the X and X SE are good as centerpiece for any non-mobile studio.

IMO, I think having the typical limitation of legacy MPC’s and other vintage gear for that matter is the challenge and drive to creativity. We now basically have a DAW in box and we worry or complain About not having this or that. I’m just surprised we are not at a point where we can literally build our drum machines like we can with desktop computer pc’s. Look at the direction the Push 3 Stand alone and the non stand alone are going. With non stand alone, you can upgrade to stand alone . Does that make sense? No matter what, you still need to bring your work to the computer to finish it off .

👉🏾 Honestly, the benefit of the ram is NOT to speed times of booting up the mpc itself. The 4gb is for adding parameters for more room and other things that will be stored in the ram. In other words the 4gb is quite an improvement of you're not using a pc.. there would literally be no point to have a 32gb ram stick in your mpc neither. Most of y'all don't have 32gb in your pcs alone. You're gonna see the benefit once you really put that thing to the test. But by producing, not speed testing it. And also, when you're using it for a pc, the mpc x se becomes a music production CONTROLLER not a music production center. So it entirely relies on all of the hardware inside the pc while the mpcs hardware becomes idle.

True but do you think it should have the industry standard which is 16 gigs maybe 8 gigs. Me myself I can make it do what it do. Plus there are great key groups that sound like instruments you can used to help out. What do you think?
@jltbk5420
@jltbk5420 Жыл бұрын
Tbh. This debate on speed and what was added to the new units are a waste of time because 1. If things start getting cpu heavy you can just connect it to your computer as a slave which is what’s gonna happen anyway when it’s time to mix 2. If your an og mpc user you had to make these machines work with waaaaaaay less cpu and ram. Just be creative when your machine has limitations. I have a mpc x and I use it in standalone ONLY! And I never cpu or memory spike. I sample and connect outboard gear. Problem is when they keep adding vst now they’re trying to compete with a computer and tbh with those specs they’ll never compet. And that’s the problem with this debate. These Mpc are good. They don’t need more specs they need upgrades with sound quality imo. Keep up the good content Caesar. 🙏🏿
@THEKINGOCAESAR
@THEKINGOCAESAR Жыл бұрын
@@jltbk5420 thanks bro and great input too I think we are spoiled and think we need more than what we have but the truth is fire gets produced with these machines everyday. Plus like you said if you hook it to the computer you unlock it in a way. I do hear the debate about sound to I’d just say until they make it sound the way people want it to sound out the box. Learn how to make it sound that way by learning technique’s people should know anyway and I honestly don’t think they sound that bad. In my honest opinion. But hey thanks for the convo bro. I like respectful intelligent conversations.
@jltbk5420
@jltbk5420 Жыл бұрын
@@THEKINGOCAESAR 100% true. I honestly feel like people expect these machines to make a hit for them. The sauce is behind the machine controlling it. And you’re right they don’t sound bad and that’s another conversation/video of its own. But from a content creator’s standpoint I get the reason for the video. To help people make a decision on either machine. IMO I’d skip the bells and whistles, if you’re in the market for an mpc x. Cash in on the opportunity to get the older model at a really good bargain because 9/10 all everyone is gonna do is hook it up to a computer in post anyway. I do everything Stan alone then mix in the box. But again keep doing your thing I enjoy seeing content creators/ producers/ beat makers giving honest feedback

We really need to hear the converter in the SE compared to the X, it seems that Burr Brown converter is inside the SE, this is the same brand that was used in the old mpc's but people are still not happy with it. It would be great for you to do a test of the same signal coming out from all 8 outputs on these machines, output 3-8 really do not have the same quality as master output, this will help drive the message to Akai that they are really cutting corners with the hardware, its sad because the workflow is incredible.

There are a lot of channels that have done this comparison I believe. I still think that the quality is good on the mpcs maybe it’s not top notch compared to the older ones I don’t know. @@THEKINGOCAESAR The only proper class compliant 8 channel converter that is working with no pops and clicks is the SSL Big Six, just got that this week, non stop testing and working good, most other ones that mpc forums have on that list are 2 channel, which aint gone cut it, the RME UCX 2 does not work either, lot of pops and clicks, this might help people who want really 8 channels. X is $2500, they got to fix the converter, they know that, what would be the point of class compliant if they did not know they got issues. Look at Rossum and what he had done with SP 1200 and he is not selling like akai is , so it can be done. I make the MPC sound the way I want it by sampling on the Emu and dragging the samples into X and just never use the ins or outs, its is just a glorified sequencer, love the work flow and that is it. We need to raise the bar here, yes we can make the new MPC sound better in a proper studio, we know how much that stuff costs. Those Xpansion packs would sound 10 times better with proper converters
@THEKINGOCAESAR
@THEKINGOCAESAR 11 ай бұрын
@@dubmaverick69 but the question is how are you going to get an akai to do that when majority of people who own an X are happy with it. Maybe it could sound better but you got to admit that the workflow is ten times better then the old ones. And as far as the sound are we saying the sound is 100% better on the old ones or are we talking like 10% or maybe 15% better. It’s not a huge difference to me but even professionals are saying this so it really a point of view thing. People who I’ve talk to who were using these things back in the day said they were running these thing through out board gear or console anyway so isn’t that the same way people are telling us to do it now. Use the out cause the problem isn’t with the outs it’s the inputs when sampling. The new mpc have a super clean a to d conversion on them they use high end converters the burr brown like you said with the same component also used in universal audio inputs so what ever you sample in is exactly what your going to get with the new ones. All in all I understand peoples concerns but the only way to make akai listen it to submit your claim to them or by not buying the products at all. But that would mean that you think the mpc is trash and hardly no one agrees with that even the people who are mad about the converters because what the mpc may lack it makes up in yes workflow and all the people I’ve talked to said they would take the work flow over having it sound 10 % inferior to the old ones. This is why the rossom might sound good but no one wants it because first it’s $4000 and the workflow is horrible compared to anything on the market right now. I appreciate you being respectful and having a conversation about this like an adult bro. I just don’t agree with everything being said about the converters. People who complain about the sound of the mpc X still religiously use the X and the other mpcs to this date. If it was such a problem they would be using there 3000s and their X would be on the shelf but I see them with the 3000 on the self and the X front and center. Pretty much all them. If we want workflow and all the sound we probably can have it but it’s going to cost. Me my self wouldn’t mind if they made a high end mpc the way the professionals want it. I know that I wouldn’t be able to afford it just like many couldn’t afford the 3000 when it came out. But just like the debate of plugins vs outboard gear. You buy what you can afford and what can get the job done. Then if you make money from it you can upgrade to the outboard gear when it is within your means. Even tho the mpc X se is 2500 I still think that is cheap compare to what a 3000 would cost with inflation. For what it can do right the ssl big six 6 Chanel mixer is the same price as an mpc live 2. Anymore channels than that then we are coming close to mpc X prices and it’s just a console to rought sound in and out of it that’s it. Not a lot of bells and whistle but what it does well it excels at. I feel this way about the mpc’s what they have always been known for is hard hitting drums, sampling, sequencing, and being a control center in the studio. We still have all those things except for one in the eyes of what I would say is a minority of people so it’s subjective. But music is subjective. So your not wrong but the people who are happy with them are not wrong either.

Jack O’Donnell has a lot of money - he just buys companies, he has probably no clue of the development of instruments. I do own an X FE (first edition) and there are things nobody would do, when creating something like this. The two FS ports at the front...why at the front? The headphone jack on the RIGHT hand side? - the cables come out on the left hand side of a headset... the main buttons (play, stop, etc) is so flimsy - it broke after about two years... a replacement of the 1$ plastic piece is rediculous - I glued it and taped it - works somehow....

Or you can say forget getting the new one lets save some money get the old one and use the money I would of spent to get a synth, or outboard gear etc. it’s depends on you and what you want and need. I don’t own an X so I would get the new one because if I could afford to get it then That means I can splurge a little bit and it would be my trophy. The mpc one is a great mpc and the live 2 is the best one still to me in the lineup and they both cost a fraction of what the X cost but can get you the same results so yeah. @@THEKINGOCAESARI see what you're saying but the Boot up process includes loading sample packs or whatever from whatever libraries you have on that drive. @THEKINGOCAESAR Жыл бұрын
Yeah I think is much slower if you take any top rated ssd drive and put it in a computer or anything the load times are significantly faster. We see this in thing like the new ps5. Also when you take a old laptop in because it’s slow one of the first things they do to make it faster is put the os on a fast ssd drive. I did this with an old Mac book and it’s night and day how fast it boots now. The speed is not even close. So although they have flash storage I can confidently say that it’s not fast flash storage.
@TranceCore3
@TranceCore3 Жыл бұрын
@@THEKINGOCAESAR The only reason it's faster is because of the SATA protocol which is faster than usb, and the NVMe protocol which is also faster than USB. neither MPC uses the NVMe protocol, there's only a SATA port in these devices. However, the operating system is installed onto the internal drive and once you open the unit it's very easy to access. Just don't format it, it's encrypted.

I fill like we teach people how to shoot a proper jump shot but if you don’t practice you still will suck a shooting. No mater what tho no matter how I teach you you are going to put your spin on it. Thanks your last response was much better and I enjoy constructive conversation. Respect
