I've always thought of Mr. Big as a wonderful hybrid between Van Halen and Journey. Serious musical chops on the one hand, with great melodies and a fantastic singer on the other. I was lucky to see Mr. Big live after their debut album was released. The whole band was great but Billy Sheehan's jaw dropping bass solo was unbelievable. 😳

@@_azu7 because you hear very little about him anymore. Him and many other very talented musicians Most prefer staying under the radar, they made their mark and are content. But they slowly fade out and become unheard of. Meanwhile phoney people overrate crappy people (I wont even refer to them as musicians) like Justin Beiber or chicks with dirty knees like Lady Gaga. I watched a Tiny Tim video for nostalgia purposes and couldnt believe the comments people were giving. "Oh he's such a creative genius". "One of the most talented songwriters ever".😳 I'm thinking wtf? Tiny Tim, a genius? The guy was a ukulele playing fruitcake that sang in falsetto and had one hit that he didnt even write. The only reason he's famous was because he was as weird as they get. People didnt give a rats ass about his music. They just wanted to see some goon for a few minutes. But his popularity created a mindless cult that that knows nothing about talent. Just equally talentless fans worshipping him. I made the mistake of sounding out on it and caught hell for it. It thought they were gonna come after ne with pitch forks and tiki torches.

@@siggyretburns7523 who the hell are ya, you grabbed my attention. You are absolutely right man, im plotting a seriously criminal revival of rock in my country/place. Ive idolized gilbert and these guys for years. My plan is to make people cringe at all kinds of phony music you were talking about, like the mainstream pop/hiphop garbage that theyre selling these days especially the materialistic and completely useless type instead of few good ones. I want to reverse the scenario, its pretty pathetic nowadays nobody really even gives an f about real music. Let tiny tim rest, atleast that guy made some real noise and tried to sing even though he was barely a musician, they are idolizing nothing but mumblers, fake posers who cannot even make noise with their gutter like mouths and cannot sing without the aid of engineering magic, autotune nowadays . These dimwits dont even have 0.1% of even that tiny tim are you aware of that? What a far cry from the days when blistering guitar solos rode the airwaves, when real music was appreciated, when people made music to make people feel instead of flexing this and that. In about 5years from now i will make people despise other people for not listening to REAL music, make people harm and seriously beat up people who hype up and overrated trash dogs, im serious mate. Ive dedicated all these years to sound exactly like gilbert and playing like him, i will make a strong ass band we are already discussing with lots of other fellow bands and seniors, and famous artist in my country that rock is in shitty place right now. They have acknowledged that, its completely upon us. We are the passive fucks, we need to stop letting them win or become the majority? Can you even feel me? So dude whoever you are musician or non musician i hope you do atleast something from your side to revive the era of rock and real music. I know this sounds so cliche but trust me ive been very serious about this, im not JOKING around in the internet. Hope you read this

He was at his peak then, as evidenced by his success. With age comes added knowledge and developed wisdom...but also slower fingers, less creative spark, and less sex appeal. If you were ever going to be exceptional, you'd have mastered your profession by mid twenty. From then, you can add finishing touches...but for the most part...the cast has been set. That's the case with us all, not just Gilbert. Across the board..from athletics...to show biz...to music, the stars are always in their twenties, with few exceptions. It's when all your factors combine to either a perfect storm....or, a big ole' kaput! (I, unfortunately, turned out the latter..☹️)

It's not weird at all. In his interviews he discusses his love for classic rock and musicians like the Beatles and Todd Rundgren etc. He fits in perfectly in this style and I like it more than his other stuff, but he's always entertaining no matter what the genre. In recent years he's become more bluesy and melodic so actually it seems the super fast technical stuff of his youth is perhaps his least favorite to do! That's the weird stuff lol! Half joking. He loves lots of styles of music and it shows in his versatile playing.

Well...If you want to be in the showbiz then you probably aren't walking Lord's roads. I like their technicality but that's the truth when you listen to some of the lyrics.

Saw them in Manila November 4, 1994! My ticket was printed #4 so i was at the front row at PG's side of the stage! Unforgettable experience! One of the picks Paul tossed went to the guy to my left. I was so pissed, haha!!

Was lucky enough to see them at a small club, Cadillacs in Hickory NC before they blew up.

"Road To Ruin" id such a good song. The thick & lush 3/4 part vocal harmonies are just great. So well done - excellent. Richard
