Well, what Mad Zack showed in that video wasn't exactly muting/unmuting the clips while playing with play position, what he was actually doing was more simple: he played clips with the pads like you normally do in a drumrack, and playing with pitch and filter in the encoder to recreate the effect. What you are doing is better in my opinion, more like actual scratching, just what I was looking for. You are a genius.

I been wanting to do this for a while, but instead of using global crossfade and manual slicing, using live audio pulled into chains via monitoring Audio From in compressors

By the way this can be achieved using python for ableton (without m4l), which I guess is more reliable. Even splitting the track into several clips will not be necessary

How about a follow up with a focus on the hardware? Would be nice to see the hardware rack itself and the wiring.
