@@monkeman5578 Funnily enough, you don't need meat to be healthy! It's a common misconception, though you are on the right track. What vegans need are vitamins like B12. It was originally thought that this vitamin is only found in meat, but it is also found in yeast! So vegans need to make sure to eat nutritional yeast, or take B12 supplements which is around $20 for a year's worth of pills :-)

@@batskirmish Exactly! And actually, the only reason there is B12 in animals nowadays is because they are injected with them. Most meat subtitutes add B12 vitamins as well now. But taking vitamins is always better.

It has to do with trophic layers. Animals need to eat plants to grow. So if you go down a trophic layer directly to plants there are huge savings in resources and efficiency which leads to a cheaper product.

@@zenithfitness1501 As it happens it's much less than the plants required to feed an animal for months to years. It's not hard to see why this is. Almost 90% of the energy contained in the plants that an animal eats is converted into heat, sweat and gas to keep the animal alive, and that's of the portion that actually gets digested. An animal, like our own body, is a machine kind of like a car. Imagine if you had to keep your car running continuously all its life. Cars would be much less gas-efficient then! Unlike a car though animals can't turn their body's off so this energy is completely wasted and this is why it's much cheaper to make food from plants directly.

Yeah, because it's made of plants, which are already cheaper than animal flesh/secretions. Why would you expect it to be 2x the cost of animal flesh burgers, which require WAAAAAY more resources, time to make, people making it (from the crop farms, to the farmer, to the truck drivers, to the slaughterhouses workers, more transport truck drivers, to the factory workers, to the fast food workers/supermarket employees)? Obviously the animal flesh version is going to be more expensive. Imagine how expensive animal flesh would be if it weren't for subsidies. And why would the fact animal flesh burgers being made for 100s of years mean they should be cheap? Meat used to be only for the rich, or for people of high status, which should tell you that meat has been expensive for a very, very long time, it was seen as a luxury. So your assumption makes zero sense. Why do you care so much about the plant-based option being cheaper? That's a good thing, it should be cheaper. Hopefully the prices of animal flesh/secretions keep increasing and I hope that someday, subsidies are removed from animal flesh/secretions.

Meat subtitutes are a thousand times healthier than meat. Meat is injected with chemicals and disgusting shit. Also, it gives you cancer. But sure, stay in your denial if you want.

You have to meet people where they are. Plant-based fast food isn't meant to be health food just like regular fast food isn't. It's meant to be a treat. And there are studies showing that plant-based meats actually are healthier than animal flesh. They don't have as much saturated fat and have no cholesterol. And they are 100% more healthy to all the animals that don't have to be tortured and slaughtered for it.

Not sure why people assume that anyone who eats vegan fast food thinks it's healthy. Who tf eats burgers, nuggets, and fries for their health?? Obviously, it's not, but the vegan options are healthier than animal flesh options because the vegan versions don't have the same health risks as the animal flesh versions. The animal flesh versions increase your risk of many chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, diabetes. The animal flesh versions are carcinogenic, they have carcinogens, which promote cancer cell growth. The vegan versions don't have carcinogens. Sure, the vegan versions aren't healthy, but no one claimed they were. But of the two options, the vegan version is the healthier option, still not healthy but healthier than carcinogenic, rotting flesh. The animal flesh versions aren't healthy either, in fact, they're less healthy than the plant-based versions.
