My DIY Duel Kayak Truck Carrier that allows us to drive to remote areas that my kayak trailer is unable to get to.

I haul 3 kayaks at once in the back of a tachoma pickup. I have a rack spanning the top of the bed that is rachet strapped to the bed via a tie down in each corner of bed. 2 kayaks ride atop the rack and the 3rd is in the bed. I could haul 4 if I needed to. I highly recommend you add a headboard to your set up, otherwise when you load that top kayak, you could hit and bust your window. On commercial trucks I think they refer to it as a “headache rack”, basically to keep something you haul from coming thru back window.

Where exactly did you attatch the ratchet tie downs?????

I ran 1 tie to each side handle of top yak, holds yak down, and prevents any side movements. I also ran 2 ties through the rudder handle at the back to stop movement forwards and back.

Almost same with bottom yak but just need 1 tie at the back

Sry top yak is 1 tie at back. 1 all away around passing through handles and 1 to each handle to stop going forward as well as side to side . Haven't used it in a while since building my trailer.
