It's a minor plot-hole in the movies. What was the report for that dude's death? Did they think he committed suicide? What about the people on the boats who said "We have the building completely surrounded"? They saw that there were 2 men in the building. Someone fell out of the window and then Peter stood in the light. I guess we'll never know.

Joking aside that actually would be kind of a unique twist, his own land lord having to commit a crime in order to keep up his business and would be ironic for his uncle's killer to be sheltering him all this time, and Ditkovich could be like Sandman, where he didn't mean to kill Uncle Ben and was just desperate.

The true plot revealed: Peter went wrestling to get rent money but when he got ripped off, he let Mr Aziz take the guy's money despite the pizza being late. Mr Ditkavich punished Peter for his lack of rent by killing Uncle Ben. At the crime scene, Peter found a slice of Mr Aziz's pizza and assumed he was the killer.
