Milwaukee loaned me a M18 Fuel Sectional Sewer Machine to test out for a few months so I thought I would show the machine in action. Sadly this machine has been a disappointment since Day-1.
Thanks for dropping by - if you enjoyed the video consider sharing it with a friend & subscribing to get new video notifications. Look forward to seeing you next time.

With all due respect to a master of his chosen profession of drain clearing, and the tidiest on YT may I add, I have to say that a certain other Antipodean drain master would have had the drain cleared, the lawn watered and fertilized and his pet plastic rat fed in half the time it too you to wrestle with the Milwaukee M18 to get this done. Remember, your videos are essential to us non essential workers, so stay safe and healthy.

I agree William, jetting would have been quicker, but thought it worth demonstrating the Milwaukee Sectional machine for anyone thinking about buying one. My advise to anyone thinking about buying one, is to test one on several drains first to make sure its suitable to their drain cleaning environment. Once our COVID-19 Alert Level drops, I will be dropping it back to Milwaukee as the machine is unsuitable for my application.

Plumber and drain cleaner of 30 years I love general brand. Works and lasts And a drum machine is my preferred machine over a sectional. The weight of a drum machine sucks. But I don’t worry the cable will disconnect and I’m my opinion more power with a drum machine. I have tried all brands and all fads was hat came out over the years. My personal opinion general wire spring. Drum machine and jetters

@mrdrains2088
@mrdrains2088 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not a fan of the self feed on this sectional as sectional cables are more springy so when it encounters a lip, bend or blockage it can overfeed out cable especially if you are clearing a drain via a trap & it can over pull the cable when coming back out from a trap.

@@jaydrains2247 it honestly depends on what the user likes better and prefers. I know drum guys that swear the 300 is the greatest thing out there. I know sectional guys that feel the same way about their k50, k60, k1500, etc. personally I think the k60 or k5208 is better just because it can spin a 7/8 cable. The k5208 can spin 1.25 inch cable. But I also own a Spartan and love it too. Different situations call for different setups of course. My advice would be to own a sectional and a drum machine if you can afford it

The jetter was a smaller machine loaned to be by a good friend as my Honda GX690 blew a head gasket on the night our country was going into a full lock down & I had borrow one as no stores were open. It is a 14-HP Chinese clone engine running a 19 Litres per minute (around 5 US gallons per minute).

Does the Milwaukee only turn when the handle is pushed down? Are you familiar with these sectionals? Your technique of feeding from the back makes it much more awkward to use then feeding from the front. Why are you using 7/8 and not 1-1/4?
@mrdrains2088
@mrdrains2088 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben.The machine only turns when the handle is pushed down & I typically feed from the front as well, but thought I'd show the folks it can be done from both ends. I have run both size cables in the machine, but chose to run the 7/8" (22mm) cables as my sectional machine of choice is the K-60, The Milwaukee is marketed as being able to run both size cables & had the machine been any good for me, I would have wanted to continue using the 7//8" cables with it as I work in some gnarly places & my little van can only carry so much lol. I love my Milwaukee M18 Switch Pack & have done hundreds of waste-pipes & internal 4" drains with it, but for me this M18 Sectional Sewer Machine has been nothing but a disappointment regardless of cable size used. This machine should have been built to run on Milwaukee's big MX battery system the as the 18v/12ah battery just can't go the distance unless its a short & easy drain. The handle is uncomfortable & vibrates & the wheels are too small so you end up dragging against the bottom of the frame if wheeling it up or down stairs. It is uncomfortable to carry no matter how you try & it should have been built so you can stand it up ended for better storage. Some guys might say what am I talking about, they love this machine & thats ok, but for me, as soon as our COVID-19 Alert Level down drops to level 3 I will be dropping the machine back to the rep as it serves no useful purpose to me, certainly not for $4200 NZD.

@@mrdrains2088 I'm surprised to hear about those types of issues. Milwaukee had a preshowing at the NPS 2019 with a few media influencers familiar with sectional machines....I wonder what they thought about it? Any possibility you got a beta version and maybe Milwaukee will correct the issues you found? Although from personal experience, by the time it's painted the final color scheme, manufactures don't care about how well it performs, only if it will sell and spending time to give feedback is a waste of time. I am seriously crossing fingers Milwaukee will come out with a sewer camera lineup to give me more options then just Ridgid.
@mrdrains2088
@mrdrains2088 4 жыл бұрын
@@sewerroundtablereview4929 They loan't me the machine mid December 2019 & the rep said it literally came straight from their factory in China & even had the little production stickers they remove before packing into a nice pretty box. I think I got a production model, but hope they can improve it in Gen 2, but its ergonomics are so unpleasant & I forgot to mention it feels so under powered when hitting wipes, sanitary products or medium + roots. I like that Milwaukee is pushing the envelope & hope they get into camera's as more camera options would be fantastic, but I definitely will be picking up a MinFlex camera with a 40m cable length upgrade.

What is the advantage to these sectional machine
@mrdrains2088
@mrdrains2088 Жыл бұрын
This is the larger one from Milwaukee & I would not recommend anyone buys this model. If you wanted a battery sectional machine I would recommend trying their smaller 7/8" (22mm) sectional machine as whilst we don't get it down under, I've heard it is better. Down our way, we don't really use drum machines much, as they are heavy to wheel/carry around our hilly country & Ridgid just pushed sectionals so that's what became the norm for most plumbers/Drainers. Now days its all becoming about jetting/flushing drains.

Hi Mark, thanks for watching. Yes my preference would have been to use my jetter, but there's not a lot of videos showing the Milwaukee sectional in action so I chose to do one for you good folk as I knew this would be a good real world drain to show what the Milwaukee is capable of - not much & it has since been returned to the rep. In my areas, there are some drains you will just not get a jetter unless its portable, so I have to run a sectional machine as well. The pipe was full of roots & egg shells, the occasional lump of fat caught up by the roots. If I had brought the K-60 instead, it would have cleared the drain no problem.

I hope u made at least 375$ us. Everyone talking s*** man f*** sectionals have their place I don't care for them get yourself a drum .Spartan are overpriced just like gorlitz . Gorlitz store is literally 10 minutes from where I stay still wouldn't buy one. The big Marco drums are way better you attack the stoppage in reverse prevents binding, just hard to find cable and bits for them.

Wow.. are you having a bad day or something mate? I hope the 'you suck' part of your comment made you feel better. There has been interest in this machine out in the drain cleaning industry. Milwaukee loaned to me the machine & I thought I'd demonstrate it on a real world job. The machine is terrible & hopefully I have save a few drain cleaners out there wasting their money & finally the owners are planning on having it replaced.
