I placed in top 3 in all of my sumo bot competitions, my school taking the upper spots if I didn't get first and here are my tips. You need to have an ultra sonic sensor and some type of programming to find the other robot. You need a light sensor on the front and back of your robot, and a program to go away from the line when it sees it. A ramp is required, preferably 3d printed and hot glued to the robot if allowed. Have some kind of gimmick, eg. this year my robot has 6 wheel drive, all connected to 2 motors, and can attack from both sides. Lastly your robot needs to be perfected, you can't have any badly connected parts, long wheel connectors hanging off or an un-sturdy ramp, everything needs to work perfectly. In my school I’m in the robotics class and one kid has some black ramp at the front which is triggering everyone’s colour sensor so I decided to go rogue and use no colour sensors basing my robots movements entirely on the ultrasonic sensor and having it spin when the ultrasonic sensor isn’t detected and it’s going so good. The only problem is we need to make sure no one is too close to the battlefield as our bot needs to be able to see across most of the battlegrounds meaning it needs a rather large clear space without people and only opposing robots for it to demolish.

@@LEGORoboticsMrHinoit works great when people aren’t in its range. We haven’t had it kill itself yet without cheats involved (have come close though)

@@LEGORoboticsMrHinoif you look at the photos you might see that we had a problem with our robot not being able to see some of the shorter ones when they get close but we fixed that with a touch sensor that continuously makes an annoying sound while it is touched. (There are no size limits so there are some very small but wide robots) we are also mainly limited to the set with afew spare parts but no extra sensors or anything even if we get the permission from another group to take theirs so it’s rather challenging to make something strong with 2 wheels.
