I really enjoyed this movie. I thought the suicide plotline made sense for the character, their is plenty of times in the original series were Monk is almost happy that he's going to die because he then can be back with Trudy. This movie highlights the struggles of suicide in a mature and realistic capacity, while monk plans to do it the entirety of the film- nobody really seems to catch on to his "I got plans" except maybe dr.bell who starts to break down not long after realizing monk is most likely hoarding his pills. I like how even at the end of the movie he is still willing to do it until he realizes through his self-consciousness in the form of Trudy, that his life is important because when he solves cases he not only brings peace to the victims and their families but it also brings peace to himself that Trudy in not alone.

I loved the movie, thought the suicide plot line was very emotional, I think some people that may have issues with it is because of the blending of comedy and very serious topics. Which I think they struck a balance of decently. But the story and emotion was fantastic.

Best Christmas present! I cried, I laughed, very nice line story touching topics like suicide and hope with a delicate hint of comedy. Worth seeing it❤

I love monk and watched the seasons 20 times over but i did not like the movie. Thought it was written by a 10 year old. I certainly cant be the only 1? I mean her husband dies and they just move on like nothing really happened? Was odd

I always wished they gave Monk a GF or love interest. I understand that he is still in love with Trudy, but I always wanted to see that character move on in that way or see how he would be in a relationship. Unsure if they go that way in this movie, but that was seldom really addressed in the old show (he had a middle school crush reenter his life as a middle aged man in one episode who went with another guy at the end but that was a very good episode). I would love to see that at some point.

You really liked it that much? That is fantastic. I liked it as well, but likely not exactly as much as you. I will be more than happy to give this a see. Tony is 70 and still at this. Wow, that is great! Also how the heck does Hector looks so good?! He is 86, and looks the same as he did when the show was over! He rocks. As for your crush on Taylor, you have amazing tastes my friend. As for this film, end of the day I am looking forward to it and I bet it is awesome. I just hope they didn't regress the character all that much, but I guess the pandemic is why he isn't 'cured' anymore (or he seemed to have gotten much better at end of old series). I was always a fan of Julie character BTW.

Don't get me wrong with saying this but... I think the movie was a perfect way to end the show for good. Im a huge Monk fan. One of the greatest shows out there, perfect cast, perfect writing, perfect eveything. And this film is no exception. Personally, I loved the film. The references and Easter eggs to the show, the vibe of the characters, everything felt perfect. It was like sinking right back into that world over a decade later. But that's just it. The world is a decade later. All these characters have gone on to do different things. Monk was great to see back in action, but I don't think we "need" to see more. It was a great "where are they now" kind of premise, but it was a perfect send off. Putting more past this I feel would just be a tiresome excuse, and it risks ruining what's already here. And this is a strong fan saying this. All in all, I give the movie a 8.5/10. (Having an appearance from Ambrose would've been a solid 10), it'll be something I watch every time I binge through the series, and it was an absolute classic. Adding more to that, I feel, would just be pushing it too much.

I don’t know he is going to commit suicide anyway and it was silly at times but the story needs work and as a huge monk fan this was depressing

seen the series start to finish about 4 times. individual episodes ranging 8-20 times, this movie wasnt was i was hoping it would be.

My theory for future sequels what if monk Trudy had secret child she give birth to her child before she died but which child was put up for adopted?

I just watched it. Not exceptional, but surely worth a see. Very good for sure. P.S. Spoilers - You were correct in that I did tear up during the last 5 minutes. It was corny in a sense, but it worked and hit in just the correct. The pushed it up from good to very good in my opinion. It left me wanting more, and I supposed that is to the credit of the film. My major critique is I didn't love the would be Monk suicide plotline. I know it was sort of played for laughts, but in any media I never found this plot line funny or amusing b/c it is a serious subject that I don't think should be made light of, but that is just my personal oponion. At the end of the day if you give this a see you will not be disappointed at all.

The movie was crap! The actors looked old as hell, and they made Monk still OCD, he should have been less OCD and been living a great life instead still living life paycheck to paycheck, and the ghosts from the past, his ex-wife looked old and fat, didn't know ghosts get old and fat, please they should have never done that. I love the old Monk series.
