I am guyanese and My history taught me that The black slaves arrived from the West African coast to work on the sugar plantations hence the term Afro guyanese and African Americans. The Indians came too but they were named indentured Servants . They were paid to work under contract .. I am sure read about the Atlantic Slave Trade!!!!! It’s just Progeny 😢.

John they are African descendants but Guyanese by birth so they are GUYANANESE.Africans reside in the continent of Africa Indians are from India Etc .Jamaican Trinidad Bar etc all identity as citizens of their birth countries proudly but Guyanese people are a rare breed of people.

I am Guyanese , My best friend as a child was just Guyanese to me but we didn't share the same cultural background. I or he never for one moment associated himself with Africa which is a continent not a race or nationality. Its not even a culture, the place is vast and varied.@@dolarie5285

The point I want make is it's time we start seeing just Guyanese. Look at London, I see just Londoners, I don't see African Londoners or Indian Londoners. Actually, the segregation in London is by class, wealth and accent. That's another story 😁
