They found ruins of ancient Troy and signs of siege and destruction so it is safe to say that big war in some form happened. However it probably went way different than in the legend we know, as Homer wrote it down centuries after it actually happened. Version that was passed to him probably changed a lot with generations of story telling

4:37 I think the guillotine was actually invented to kill pigs faster but the revolutionaries thought it did a good job so they used it and now it's only known for killing humans. Apparently Marie Antoinette's last words was to the executioner when she accidentally stepped on his foot, she said "I'm sorry sir, I did not mean to do it." which I guess is a good summary for her reign- she hurt people but never meant to.

Fun Fact: the little gag at the very end, with the janitor following the Trojan horse with a push broom, isn't directly part of the Peabody-verse but was a gag from the parent show Rocky And Bullwinkle. The show would have 5-10 second "bumpers" between cartoon shorts; one such featured a parade of characters prancing past the camera, then a moment later a janitor would follow with a push broom.

Every bad thing that transpired in the movie was all Penny’s fault. Teasing Sherman, riling him up to the point of retaliation, tricking him, manipulating him, constantly calling him a dog, Egypt, Florence, it was all because of her, because of choices she made.

3:48 It's pretty much proven that Marie Antoinette never actually said that, and accepted that even if she had it would've been out of genuine naivety rather than carelessness because we're pretty sure neither she nor her husband actually knew how bad things were for most of the people of France since Versailles was so cut off from the rest of the country, though as I've often pointed out that isn't really an excuse, especially not to those who are struggling. However she and her friends did have this little toy village built for them where they'd dress up as farmers except that it was a very idealised place where the servants would clean the chicken eggs before they went to gather them, and the sheep and goats would be washed before they tended to them, and also were their costumes would include stuff like silk roses in their hair and ostrich feathers in their hats. I think if the people of France had heard about that it would've made them genuinely angry enough.

The puns were very intentional. If you watch the original cartoon shorts, the entire point of each episode was to set up a very corny play-on-words punchline. Incidentally, a very long story told for the sole purpose of ending in a terrible pun (or just an irrelevant anti-climax) is called a shaggy dog story. So having a dog be the main character is, in itself, a pun.

I wish that when Penny asked why they're trying to separate Peabody and Sherman, he said that it's because she "bullied Sherman and because he defended himself, the lady is using it as an excuse to try and separate them." Teaching Penny that her actions have consequences would've elevated this movie for me bc that lame, last minute and stilted "I started it, I'm sorry" and "I'm a dog too" Did not cut it for me, but maybe I'm expecting too much

14:12 Yep. And King Tut is famous for dying young - though lately he's also becoming infamous for apparently having a messed up appearance since he was inbred (a royalty only privilege since they Egyptian Pharaohs were considered to be living gods and the Egyptian gods were likewise chiefly inbred, just didn't mess up their mentality and appearances like it does with humans). But joining your husband in death was supposed to be a good thing, death was a really important part of their religion which is why they made sure that they'd have everything they could possibly need when they passed into the next world as they called it (depending of course on how the heart weighing by Anubis went, if it went badly the heart would be eaten by Ammit and then you'd just cease to exist full stop).

It's likely that a real Trojan war did happen. There's some texts and archaelogical evidence pointing to a conflict. However it was probably very very different from the way it's edscribed in the homeric epics. Homer himself (if he existed) lived 300-400 years after the presumed Trojan war, in a society that had collapsed and his works are only a vague memory of the events.

The fact that they had two Disney Jr stars is what I love about this movie. Ariel Winter (voice actor of Penny) is also the voice of Sofia from Sofia the First and Max Charles (voice of Sherman) is also the voice of Kion from The Lion Guard. And also they're one of the kid voice actors in Disney Jr shows who have stayed from the beginning until the end of their series without getting replaced no matter how much they've grown. Don't mind me but I'm kids series and animation fan 😅. But my favorite thing about this movie is the father and son bond between Mr Peabody and Sherman

Before that, when you were executed by the state only rich people were beheaded. But poor people before the guillotine was brought in were executed via torture that ranged from very painful to extremely painful. Plus, that was back when poor people didn't have anything you could really take from them. The guillotine was a way of saying "Everyone executed by the state will be executed the same way."

Oh! If you really like time travel shows and movies then I highly recommend Doctor Who, probably the best time travel tv series out there in my opinion! I'm unsure if you have seen it or not, but I'll type this down just in case :) When watching Doctor Who for the first time, it is best to start at the beginning of what's called, in the fandom, 'New Who'. New Who is basically the series episodes made in the 2000's and onwards, starting at series 1 episode 1 'Rose'. Also a heads up, the visual effects at times for the first several seasons/series of the show can be a bit, well, not great XD Anyways, have a lovely day, it's back to the video for me!

I think it’s from watching reruns of The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle Show on Nickelodeon as a kid in the 1980s-1990s is where I got my love of punny jokes because it’s full of them. Honestly whenever I heard they were making this movie I was definitely curious as the Mr Peabody & Sherman segments of the show were often some of my favorite.....mostly because I enjoy history. And this movie didn’t disappoint me in any way. I laughed so much when my sister and I took my niece to see it (though my sister isn’t as keen on the punny jokes). Don’t get me wrong, I certainly enjoyed the 2000 Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle movie (there’s some great jokes in it) and the 1999 Dudley Do-Right movie (Dudley Do-Right is another character from the show that had segments), but this one has been my favorite so far. Great reaction! And I think you’re the first reactor I’m subscribed to that has watched this. So thank you! Glad you enjoyed the film! I have no idea if the other films or even the tv show are still around to watch anywhere online. I might have to look them up and give them a watch for nostalgia purposes! :-)

Fun fact There's no evidence that marie Antoinette said the cake line or that she hurt anyone, in fact, she adopted a lot of kids, she even adopted a black boy: freeing him from slavery

This is a movie that shows that Box Office Numbers shouldn't matter as much as they do for Producers. They always try to make movies appealing for the largest audience possible, and this movie, while seen as a „box flop“, has people loving it still today and I think that's more important than something half of the world only finds „okay“

I remember being disappointed when I saw this movie in theaters. Not by the movie itself but by the fact that it was supposed to have a Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon at the beginning but was cut for some reason.

Watch the live action/cartoon Adeventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle movie next. Because Mr. Peabody and Shermon was a segment on the cartoon show. Fun Fact: In Back to The Future, Doc Browm mentions that Mr. Peabody owned the farm that became Twin Pines Mall. (Later Lone Pine Mall). And his dog Einstein was the first to use the DeLorean for time travel.

So many movie problems are caused or persist because characters are incapable of proper communication. I hate how when asked why Sherman bit Penny he says “she called me a dog” and not “she had me in a chokehold.”
