I was brought in to make the tank the center piece of the main living area of the house. Here's how things are coming together.

Can't do too many of these videos. Always great to see what comes out with lots of thought, effort, time and a healthy budget!

Looks like it's going to be a great system. The custom sink is crazy! Having your display in your dinning room is great. It's where I put my tank after I moved to ensure it gets a lot of viewing time not only by me but by my family as well.

Looks awesome! I'm just getting back into the hobby after about 10 years out and I've been really enjoying your videos. I wish information had been this easy to come by a decade ago... I would have had more success! I'm just jumping in with a "little" 90 gallon setup but one day would LOVE to go big like this!

wilmracer Yes, Thanks to conscientious KZfaqrs and similar social media outlets, I feel our overall hobby (fresh & reef) is on track for a major aquatic renaissance. This may be a damn good time to re-enter the hobby for sure👍🏾!

Beautiful home and tank. I need to start playing the lotto. ;)
@ChaosGeneral16 жыл бұрын
strat1960s just put 20 in a jar every week or month and you'll have a new tank before you know it and way faster then the lotto lol that's how I got my tank and lights without breaking the bank all at once

Mark, with your vast experience and consummate professionalism, would you ever consider doing similarly sized aquarium setups for freshwater or planted tank hobbyist? Of course, for the right fee.

How is the Refugium plumbed into the sump?..Gravity or circulated from the sump with a sump pump?
@dragonlight6 жыл бұрын
I assume that you had to build up the floor joists or add supports? i am wanting to add a 90 Gallon on my main floor, or better would be a 150 gallon.
@ChaosGeneral16 жыл бұрын
Chad Volkers depending on what way your joist go a 90 is safe on a main floor I have a 120 and a 80 on my main floor with no sag
@dragonlight6 жыл бұрын
If the 90 gallon tank is along the wall, the joists below would run longways across the tank. There is also two of them close to the outside wall of the house (were the tank will be sittings) Also, the end of the joist are sitting on the center brace for the house. I hope that makes sense.

You need to be a doctor to afford what this guy pushes. Jeeez no wonder the hobby can't grow. Want a 220 reef setup. you're looking at five grand at a high tech level, just to begin looking at fish. Then the maintenance cost. The industry marks it's products up so much that it's a prohibitive factor. Therefore they get what they deserve, slower growth of their industry. 400 to 500 dollars for a freaking plastic protean skimmer or commercial sump??? Their nice but my problem is that you can't afford to have but one serious Reef tank. That's just one biotope. I want more than that, which is the freshwater route. Maybe one day I can go there. They are very stunning to view.
