In 1959 when I was 6, I loved Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I recall it being exciting, thrilling and a tad humorous as well. It made my top 5 list. Lol...I was a Catholic kid so not much scared me other than the nuns!

I remember when I rode WDW's version when I was a little kid and I loved it. I was so sad when it shut down and Pooh took its place (which in my opinion is inferior to Toad). Years later when I cam to Disneyland for the first time, this was the first ride I went on. I was so happy to relive the memories and nostalgia.

Did anyone else feel like that ending came out of nowhere? Not only does it not fit in with the ride at all, but it doesn't fit in with the themes of the original short of The Wind In The WIllows at all. Since when did Mr Toad, or anyone end up going to Hell?

The original three dark rides were meant to convey three different themes. Snow White's Adventures: Fear Peter Pan's Flight: Wonder Mr. Toad's Wild Ride: Fun They definitely pushed the "fun" factor in MTWR with the surprise ending.

THE MAN This is how I always interpreted the ending out of the million times I've been to Disneyland and on this ride: I always saw it as the judge sending us to our death, which is where you saw the train come. We are then in hell which is the after life we are sent to. I don't know, that what I picked up.

I only rode this ride once and it was 6 1/2 years ago. I was scared that the Headless Horseman would show up. When you see the big face with glowing eyes, I thought the mouth was trees and I thought I was in the woods of Sleepy Hollow. But I don't remember seeing the demons and the dragon. I just thought "That's it? I guess they didn't want to make the ride scary by putting in the Headless Horseman." I guess I was too scared to see the Headless Horseman that I didn't notice that I was in Hell. Why would Disney put this in if it's not from the movie? Why would Disney himself and the Imagineers think "Let's just throw Hell in there. You know, for kids!" You would think somebody else would step in and say "Wait, what?!"

I personally enjoy the line to get on this ride. Toad Hall has lots of toad-themed stuff on the shelf and decorations. It is quite charming.

If it ran every day, then about 13,939,200. It's a 2.5 minute ride, which means it runs 576 times a day, and, since it's been open since Opening Day, that's 24,200 days. 24,200 times 576 is 13,939,200. Obviously, if we include when it's closed, or when the park is closed, the number is lower, but that's too much math for me.

The ride has ALWAYS had that Hell-ish ending. I experienced it first back in the early 60s - and I remember the cop(per) with the nightstick and the mini-devils with their wings fluttering. My take on it is that going underground was the only way to avoid the oncoming locomotive. Weird - but I LOVED it since the Hell setting was so vibrantly red and pink (shades of the Alice in Wonderland ride).

I went on this only a few days ago, and I found that at the end, it gets surprisingly very VERY grim and dark. It goes from a jovial rather fun setting suddenly, you're burning in HELL! That's a nosedive from family fun to really creepy stuff!

Although this is my favorite ride, I do agree with you about the ending part. When I was about 7, I rode on this ride like 3 times I think, I literally ducked my head inside the ride because I was afraid I'll crash into the train.. of the red light. Hopefully this time I won't get too scared if I plan on going to Disneyland again.

I went on that ride when I was very young. They really shouldn't have that there and put in a different ride. That movie is not one of their classics like Sleeping Beauty, Snow White etc. and most kids probably haven't seen it.

When I first went on this ride, the thought of Mr. Toad being killed by a train and ended up going to hell went over my head and I was surprised that kids got scared of that part alone. I mostly found the very chaotic nature of this ride to be the "scary part."

yeah it’s underappreciated by fans and regular park goers imo. luckily disney still seems to know it exists, as lately it has been given good care after the refurb. everything works and looks great now, so i’m glad they at least care about it

This was my favorite ride, you got to pick from two different rides to go on when you got to the front, why did they retire it, its now winnie the pooh at disneyworld and that line is never long while this one you may be waiting half hour or more.

Murdock actually referenced this ride in "The A-Team" episode "Bullets and Bikinis", after he pretended to be a train in a tunnel to trick a guy that the team had tied to the railroad tracks to sign a paper, saying he always wanted to try it ever since he rode on this.

Three things I remember about riding this at Walt Disney World in 1993: 1. Derailing that train 2. Winding up in hell for some reason 3. My dad forgot his camera on the seat as we left and didn't realize until we were out of the park, so we lost all the photos we'd taken 😕

If I ever go to Disneyland, first ride I will get on will be Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. Come hell or high water.

I hope they keep this! I'd rather they get rid of Pinochio's Daring Journey rather than this if a dark ride has to go...

I vividly remember going on this ride on my 4th birthday in 1998.I cried in my moms arms during the hell segment lol

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride should have a Halloween overlay called Sleepy Hollow Adventure where you are in A Moter Car and you have to get away from the headless horseman.

it's funny how the mind plays tricks on you. as an adult i seem to remember this ride fondly, but after watching this i recall my reaction as a child after the ride, "That was lame."

What a great ride. I'm really quite excited as I'm travelling from England to visit Disneyland for the first time and this is, perhaps surprisingly, one of the things I'm most looking forward to, particularly the eyebrow-raising trip through Hell...

So sad WDW got rid of this ride - but what a freaking treat to find it in DL when I went a few years ago! Every time I visit DL now this is one of my favs to go on! So bizarre and fun lol
