A look at this iconic design. I decided to test it's function by making myself a cup of tea. See what happens. What are your views on this design? Good or Bad?

Great video; this is a very enlightening and informative review. I have never seen a wider gap between quality of form as opposed to quality of function. Crazy!

I really like the look of the kettle, but the serious design faults such as the spout not pouring properly and burns from the steam coming out of the handle would put me off buying one!!! From Tim Hallett

It could be improved by the handle not being made out of plastic. to make it easier to fill up I would make it a slightly more coned shape so that it slides down into the actual kettle softly. To make it pour slightly quicker I would put something similar to a seive on the inside and yet again make it like a cone again but the opposite direction so that it pours out of the thin end. On the end of the handle I would put a little cap on the end so that your arm doesn't get burnt.

yet again Mr Starck goes for style over substance, design classics should look good, be ergonomically pleasing AND WORK!! Why is Philippe regarded as one of the worlds most iconic designers when most of his products don't do the task they are designed for correctly?!? Another beautifully crafted FAIL.

Try and make one in your workshop with my adjustments and see how it turns out.

I loved the design, and i would love to have it in my kitchen, even though i wouldnt use it. I wouldnt use it because it would be hard to use; having to be careful with boiling it, and it looks quite hard to pour. I would also not buy it, because of the steam burning your arm. Erin Wilmot

Excellent example of the failure of modern ( post Memphis / Alchimea) "design" values. This sort of product would never have come from the likes of Dieter Rams at Braun for example. As was the case in the American automotive industry, this object has nothing to do with traditional Bauhaus / Ulm school design. And like those cars, It represents little more than a "styling" exercise. It's almost kitsch.
