My Favorite Animal - Fossa Fouche (cryptoprocta ferox)

The fossa is the largest mammalian carnivore on the island of Madagascar and has been compared to a small cougar. Adults have a head-body length of 70--80 cm (28--31 in) and weigh between 5.5--8.6 kg (12--19 lb), with the males larger than the females. It has semi-retractable claws and flexible ankles that allow it to climb up and down trees head-first, and also support jumping from tree to tree. The fossa is unique within its family for the shape of its genitalia, which share traits with those of cats and hyenas.

"The fossa is unique within its family for the shape of its genitalia, which share traits with those of cats and hyenas." That stands to reason since they are some of his closest relatives. What doesn't seem reasonable, and which you neglected to mention, is the sheer proportions of their genitals, which are really impressive, especially for an animal that jumps tree-to-tree chasing lemurs, lugging all that extra meat between his legs. Then there's the female that not only takes the majority of his equipment into her, but has some strange things going on of her own - not entirely unlike a spotted hyena.

When people hear the term "small carnivoran", they most often think of the families Mephitidae, Procyonidae, Ailuridae, Nasuidae, Melidae, Mustelidae, Lutridae, Ictonychidae, Nandiniidae, Prionodontidae, Poianidae, Genettidae, Viverridae, Herpestidae, and Eupleridae, they are included within three superfamilies, Procyonoidea (contains Mephitidae, Procyonidae, Ailuridae, and Nasuidae), Musteloidea (contains Melidae, Mustelidae, Lutridae, and Ictonychidae), and Viverroidea (contains Nandiniidae, Prionodontidae, Poianidae, Genettidae, Viverridae, Herpestidae, and Eupleridae), because small carnivorans are a polyphyletic group, Viverroidea belongs to Feliformia while both Procyonoidea and Musteloidea are part of Caniformia.
