Agreed. This was a huge part of my childhood. When I heard his death, it was tragic for me. I cried depressingly. You have no idea how much this song and the man meant to me and my childhood. I did in at my elementary school gym, at home, even at children’s church as well. I was devastated. May he rest in peace.

I'll play this I a park or public clearing. Dance myself, and hundreds of people would join. Such a fun thing to see random people dancing and having fun together. It's heartwarming. Even the police pulls over and gets funky before escorting everyone out the area to prevent any fights or robbery. Still fun tho. I'm so gonna do it again anywhere I go.

The musical mind behind the "Cha Cha Slide" - the ubiquitous turn-of-the-millennium dance hit played at celebrations, at stadiums and arenas, in gyms across the world - has died. DJ Casper died Monday (August 7, 2023) after a long battle with cancer. He was 58. Born Willie Perry Jr., the Chicago native originally recorded a version of the "Cha Cha Slide" in the late 1990s as an aerobic exercise for his nephew, who was working as a personal trainer at Bally Total Fitness. From humble workout track to global phenomenon, the "Cha Cha Slide" endures to this day as a staple at weddings, birthday parties, school phys ed classes and more.
