Time eras aside (I'm sure MRE's in the Marines, while still the worst in the military, have improved over MRE's in the marines in the past, at least somewhat), that shows how absolutely abysmally terrible the Marines must be because the Army overall is the second worst branch of the military after the Marines. I've met a few soldiers who were prior service marines who acted like the Army might as well have been the Air Force or the Coast Guard or Space Force. They acted like the Army had a high quality of life like the other branches. The Army overall is pretty atrocious as it is. I could not imagine being in the marine corps where things are even that much worse.

On active duty? That is not common, but it CAN happen if a soldier has had terrible and neglectful leadership. You can't completely blame the soldier because if the soldier was really that bad, then he/she would not have lasted that long.

@@golfery5119 when I was in took you two years to become a spec four.

@@research1586 yes, it is still like that now unless you get flagged. I don't know about back then (probably the same) but now you can get an 18 month waiver for e4 specialist. I know one thing that has changed is some time ago, they made it to where if you are e6, you have to be e6 for at least four years before you are considered to become an e7. So you'll probably see a lot less people in the army nowadays becoming e7 before they reach ten years. As for my comment, one way you would see some pretty terrible and neglectful leadership is if the unit passes the soldier around to different squad leaders seemingly every month after the soldier has hit the three year primary zone.

@@golfery5119 yeah I was in in the late 80s early 90s six years should be an E5 if not, an E6 But he could be a reservist.
