...oops did I do this out of order
Actually, no, no I didn't. Originally I did the 2nd Edition, then the very next day I ran across this in the thrift store. Isn't it funny how things sometimes work out?
Unlike the 2nd Edition, this version is actually pretty good. Imagine, an older version being way better in almost every respect. I don't get this world sometimes. The pacing on this version is a whole lot better and it overall just feels way more polished, lacking a lot of the bugs that plague the 2nd Edition. The only thing it's missing is an actual sign-in system so I imagine duplicate puzzles are probably an issue, but meh.
Oh yeah, and another thing -- the AI actually puts up a fight in this game. I mean, they're not nasty, but they at least do more than just pick letters in a predetermined order. Amazingly though I still managed to obliterate them pretty badly in this game, though unlike my previous recording, they didn't go home empty-handed.
This version was released in 1998, and of course there's even more products of the time here, especially the Surprise wedge which was just on the verge of retirement when this game came out. Also a little odd seeing the $250 minimum value as well...I guess even more so considering the show now has the minimum at double that.
Oh yeah, and I actually won the bonus round this time too, which was a nice plus.
This was recorded off the IBM ThinkPad as well. I would have done it on my Windows XP desktop, but it seems this game has a bug on XP that causes the pointer on the wheel to flicker when you spin it, so I decided to go ahead and record it on its native OS.
I don't have a lot to say otherwise. This is honestly a pretty decently enjoyable adaptation of the show and probably even my favorite of the computer game adaptations. Enjoy!
Wheel of Fortune is (C) Sony. I will respectfully take this down by request.
