In 2016, Cookiezi truly cemented himself as the most dominant player osu! has ever seen. From 2016 to 2018, Cookiezi was the number 1 osu! player for 455 days in a row. No one forsaw this record being broken at all. Then, in 2019, when WhiteCat overtook Vaxei for the number 1 spot, it marked the start of his reign at the top. From 2019 to 2021, WhiteCat held the most dominant reign osu! has ever seen, holding the number 1 spot for 550 days in a row. His reign was finally ended when mrekk claimed the number 1 spot on April 8, 2021. Since then, mrekk has remained at the top to this day, and has set several iconic scores that others can only dream of replicating. But what you might've not known is that mrekk's dominance has reached heights no one has ever reached before, and it doesn't look like he's stopping anytime soon.

I don´t think there is a Top Player at the moment wo will overtake Mrekk. The ones who are capable of it, are not interested in Farming.

if they're even capable of it at all. Vaxei specifically is brought up a lot, but the thing about Mrekk is that he is _the best in the world_ at speed, better than vaxei, better than WC, and right now Speed is the meta. you could definitely argue they might be better players, with more varied skillsets, but in terms of pure PP grind, no one in the world is capable, even if they started grinding hard.

@@JaySk8n aetrna had his 11 1k pp plays without farming for them. He's now farming for them, so I think he could catch up, especially being the current best DT stream map player. Time will tell though, it all depends on him actually going through with farming for 1k pp

@@muufle Yeah hypothetically aetrna could catch up to mrekk but at the moment he just doesn't have the consistency. He seems to shitmiss a lot of the time on plays that could be worth a lot of pp.

I think the major problem for other players to catch up to him is that the mf is still improving faster than anyone, getting faster and more consistent at harder DT maps. Is very unlikely that somebody is going to chase him until October... of 2024

I somewhat agree, the issue with aetrna is just how unlucky his playstyle is. The main way he gets pp is by grinding high BPM spaced streams, and those are practically impossible with things such as notelock being existent and how easy it is to misaim them

Only people that can compete in my opinion is, aetrna, nyanpotato if they improve and whitecat if he fully derusts and re learns three mod so good that he can ss sunglow

The thing is the only person in that list that actually kinda cares about pp is nyanpotato and even then he doesn't farm nearly as much as mrekk before he took #1 from whitecat. And no one in the top 5 including mrekk couldn't care less about pp

New pp meta says that u need speed+fast aim to farm as much as possible. Mrekk has an aim at the whiteсat level and a speed close to merami. Noone has this combination of skills at the moment, and im pretty sure hes dominance would last for at least 2 more years.

I just looked up how long the longest #1 Reigns of a single combined was. It was 967 days by chocomint. If mrekk holds #1 until December 2 2023 he will have lasted #1 the longest that any player combined has lasted. Idk if it's possible but now, in July 2022 he still has a 2800 pp lead and the only one who *could* take him over is Utami. It may be possible for him to be #1 for that long

Imo he can hold for that long. Utami is really good, but mrekk can just keep going. At his age, if he keeps getting better that will probably stick with him. Its my assumption that around the age he is at, the muscle memory he gains will grow with him. Just a thought and could be entirely wrong, but I can definitely tell you he will last the longest.

mrekk is still very young therefor he is only gonna get better as he gets older. There isn't anyone who is going to ever pass mrekk in osu's history unless they wipe the ranks clean. I don't honestly think there's even a top player that could overtake him if they tried, based on the rate mrekk is setting records at.
