Well this is going to be a weird ride, we are going to be stuck at 5 pawns for a long time. I figure we batten down the hatches and try and bang out all the research while slowing training up our pawns, our shooting skills are terrible. Thankfully our melee skills are pretty solid.

I figured if we went with a custom race it would be a bit to easy. Now we will have to earn our super soldiers. Plus I would like to get a bit of a feel for the strengths and weaknesses of the new race types.

Functional shelves, instead of stuff spread across everywhere like a bomb went off, has totally changed my rimworld experience.

My functional shelves just look like multiple bombs went off, lol. Everything but food and chemfuel gets tossed onto a giant pile. The food goes in the freezer room, and chemfuel sits separate. If I carried mortar shells they'd be separate also.

Also the games are all bleeding together in your brain, mechanoiders came out when mechatronics engineers weren't on the table for Rimworld jobs

It's great to hear you so sincerely excited about the expansion in the intro :) I started following you for ONI, but I recently started to watch (basically all) your rimworld stuff due to having too much time on my hands: I'm currently recovering from a bad car accident and your videos are helping me get through it. You'll probably have to artificially do the pigskin line. One thing people keep missing is that Pig Nose is not just a decorative trait, but also gives the pawn a x20% to their romance chances with people who don't have a Pig Nose.

All the lines will be done artificially. Growth vats and extracted eggs. No romance required, other wise we would need 20 parent pawns to make the 15 kids.

Could have edited the scenario so you could start off with all 6 of the inheritable races, or even have a 7th of your own creation. I'm personally a fan of the blood clotting trait, seconds after my pawns get hit they stop bleeding with the wound being tended, it's very op atm (no need for medicine and fights can last as long as you like, so long as you can kite). The fire breath has a 5 seconds cooldown but is a proper flamethrower, very funny. Re inheritance, they tend to loose traits over crossbreeding generations, so you might end up with pawns very close to baseline after a few generations, which is a shame. I'd have loved it if a "baseline" had a special trait or two, indicating that they had some ancestry of a heavily modified human.

I can only bring 5 pawns back with the archo quest, though now that I think about it we could have dropped the worst race during the first reset. I am really looking forward to getting in the splicing on genes, pretty sure it can get really broken. I see the limiting factor being time, it takes a long time to get up a decent gene bank so you are going to be struggling and making compromises for a while.

Whenever FJ makes a new series I always get the urge to create a colony following the same premise/challenge as his, I'm not sure why though.

A bit of competition brings out the best in people, makes you want to push yourself. I set myself the challenge to see if I can push myself. The more I study what I'm trying to achieve the happier I am we did not go 500% threat on the first run, it's going to be a long run and I need to move fast if I want to finish in a reasonable time.

Something I learned with the weapon pairs, they give you a very minor mood bonus for carrying a weapon of that type. The basic one is any melee vs. any ranged weapon. It's a dual mood bonus if they have victory with a noble weapon.

New challenge... Sea Ice Impids. Only impids allowed. See for how long you can keep them alive in the worst temperatures possible. I thought that the "Yatkins?" were weak to fire and was going to offer the reverse, so they in the extreme desert, but it seems they aren't really weak to that.

The most creative plan I've seen so far! I've played around 10 hours of the new DLC myself, the wait for the kids to mature is brutal; but I think growth vats can speed that up quite a bit! maybe give up on "traditional" methods of reproduction, and use growth vats with seeded Ovums

I don't recommend it. Child warriors have a few bugs and issues, such as making the people who kill them depressed.

One thing to note about Germ genes is that when they breed with other races they are in fact a mix of the two, but their "complexity" goes does. So "normal" of those races are complexity of like 11 but a interracial mix is like 6. Complexity is a stat you can see in their germline info screen. I'm thinking by the time you get to the final generation, their complexity will have hit near 0. They only inherit a trait or two of each races traits and lose all the rest. Xenogenes can offset it, but its going to be a beast to try and keep track of who should have had which genes. Also if your turning off the threat limiter, I highly suggest the mod that lets you erase NPC caches. Maybe slaves will be helpfulfor finding xenogenes, but also maybe mechs could fill the gaps in your workforce.

Before when I had good ideas for a run I used to hide them because I'm pretty slow and I was worried someone would run with the idea and do it before me. But I think with one's like this no one else is dumb enough to invest that much time and effort into it.

With the archonexus quest, you can only take ONE relic into the second playthrough. I think it is the same for the next one as well.

Only if they are still relics. Once an item is no longer a relic (reform ideology to new relic), IIRC it's just a legendary item.

Interesting I think we will have to do some messing around on that front. I would like the final team to be 5 pawns with legendary weapons and armour just laying waste to the tile they start on.

Best (non Archeotech bullshit) genelines: Robust Strong immunity Extremely expensive: Speed Psi-sensitivity Arguable: Melee Fast learning Minor: Clotting Darkvision Between the Archeotech metabolism and Archeotech agelessness genes combined with genetic instability, you can have a 10-point budget of 'free' points. This does require multiple Archeotech genes. You might also wish to code in trotter hands for free points if you have prosthetics. Not sure if nesrsighted works the same way.

I also like to give them Very unattractive for 2 more free points and install a nice nose and Aesthetic shaper to completely counteract it. Can also pair up aggressive and Kind instinct for another pretty much free point. If the whole team is kind then you don't even need the aesthetic shaper stuff.

as an early prep for phase 2 you can cheese the nexus quest a lot more. the game allows you to pick some animals to bring along for the new colony. aaaaand the game doesn't care if those are caravan animals stuffed full with loot

Ohhh that is nice to know, I can see a few ways to do interesting things with that. I'm going to have to do some testing to make sure it works but assuming it goes well we will have to obtain some elephants for the carry capacity.
