Hi! If you have a guitar, there are basically four chords. start on Bm with a little pinky hammer on the fifth fret of the E string (littlest string). Then A, then listen to the chord changes, but all the chords you'll need all song are Bm, A, G, D. Then in the last part of the song, it sorta starts on the D ("what if we hadn't been each other at the same time!") and goes to G and back to D ("secrets you don't need to keep"). You'll have to listen to the chord changes while you sing : )

I am....there. I day dream as I listen. I actually night dream, I guess. I lay with my hair like a fan, in a open grassy field on a hill, upon a warm flannel blanket, covered with the black and blue amber sky, inhaling the cool, crisp, woodsy breeze, as I try to connect the dots above with my fingers.

Mr Bird, a milestone in my recent emotional life. Such an unknown, undervalued talent. And Buckley-like as he may seem, he still gets to surpass the Master. He´s original, he´s authentic, he´s real, but first of all, he´s ... insanely tender. I´ll ask for some of his songs in my funeral, sure. Maybe "Sovay", even if I don´t know what "Sovay" means... ;)

Lyrics for any who want 'em: Sound is a wave, like a wave on the ocean Moon plays the ocean like a violin Pushing and pulling from shore to shore Biggest melody you never heard before If I were the night sky Here’s my lullaby Lullaby to leave by If I were the night What if we hadn’t been born at the same time? What if you’re seventy five and I were nine? Would I come visit you? Bring you cookies in an old folks home? Would you be there alone? And when the late summer lightning Fires off in your arms Will I remember to breathe? No, I never will, no And the fire could convince you that I mean you no harm Just wanna show you how not to need If I were the night sky Here’s my lullaby Lullaby to leave by If I were the night What if we hadn’t been each other at the same time? Would you tell me all the stories From when you were young and in your prime? Would I rock you to sleep? Would you tell me all the secrets you don’t need to keep? Would I still miss you? Oh, would you then Have been mine? Sound is a wave, like a wave on the ocean Moon plays the ocean like a violin Pushing and pulling from shore to shore Biggest melody you never heard before If I were the night sky Here’s my lullaby Lullaby to leave by If I were the night

This is an early demo of Sifters. The Break It Yourself mix improves on it in many ways but I do like the guitar part at 2:40 on this version. In the context of Orpheo and Fatal Shore though the tone of the Break It Yourself version makes more sense.

Modest means marked by simplicity. Having a humble opinion of yourself. In this case I believe it's used towards you in sarcasm due to your comment. No one likes people who think they are good at many things and say it aloud even if they are good. Andrew Bird doesn't do that. He's modest bc even though he is good, he still downplays it and makes people feel as if anyone could do what he is doing. And anyone can. Artists don't know they are artists. They just are. The things they create

Oh, would you then Have been mine?
