Bit old school myself and nothing I've used comes close to my old HS 81R which after eight years of constant use still works perfectly!!

Lovely review and an awesome machine. Stihl are (in my opinion) the best bang-for-buck brand right now. I have a question/idea for you. As a home owner with a relatively small garden, what would be the best battery powered option from stihl. I have the hla56 and it is great as a long reach hedge trimmer but I was looking at the hsa56 as an option for small boxwoods and shrubs.. My main concern is the cutting speed of that machine. Which is why I was thinking of a video showing the differences in cut quality with regards to cutting speeds.. I would love a comparison between the HSA56, the machine you just reviewed and maybe the HS56. Thats if you still own all of those machines. Once again, thanks for your content and valuable information. Its also therapeutic to watch gardening videos 😊👍🏽

Thank you for this nice review, probably the first in depth review on KZfaq about this hedge trimmer (not a demo). I am a homeowner with lots hedges of different kinds. I am a Stihl fan but I decided not to buy the HSA94 because of the cord and the quite expensive battery system which is made for professionals. I kept my petrol HS82R for thicker stuff and bought the new battery powered Makita DUH751 for box, yew, topiary and so on. I am very pleased about it, better than expected for sure. It is light even with the battery on it (4kg) and gives 4400 SPM. It could be an alternative for semi-pro of even professional use. It is also available with two different blabes (homeowner or professional) and three different lengths (50, 60, 75 cm). Again I am absolutely a Stihl fan but sometimes it is worth to give other brands credit.

Looks like you found cracking little tool.i Have use Makita tool myself before and I been very impressed with there quality. 4kg with the battery that just perfect.

I like em, but spose when they give up. But being less parts should be good. Got the pole trimmer and given it heaps big bits cos im lazy and its doin it very very blunt tho. Always starts. Love it.

Great honest review! Thanks for sharing! I have a privet hedge that is about 350m long and 2 meters tall that I have to trim both sides of! What would you recommend for cutting a hedge like this? I currently use a corded Bosch edge trimmer and it takes me a day to cut it without the cleanup.

I would recommend the stihl hla 66 or another long reach hedge trimmer. they are much more efficient and easy on the body when doing long hedge.

Hi , great review, many thanks. For a 7 ft privet would you recommend the R or T and which length blade ? Also to carry the AP batteries do you use a rucksack or belt? Would a pair of Ap 200 and a quick charger be a good option for 6hrs in day cutting? Thanks again for super review.

personal I'd recommend the T but the r would be fine. As for the blade length the extra range of the 75 might be of help on a 7ft hedge but again the 60 would do fine and it's lighter. I use the ap300s in rucksack which i find works great. 2x200ap battery with fast charger should be perfect to keep you cutting all day. Ap200 should last long enough so the second battery is fully charged and ready to go again. I hope this help which ever machine you choose you won't be disappointed.

Really helpful video, please could you do a video showing you using the hsa 94t and kma 131r in a hede trimming video, that what also be very fun to watch and really helpful to find out what one would be best for me.

In terms of the best tools its hands down the HSA 94 T but for most hedge cutting the 94r version would be the one to go for. The 130r jack of all trades master of none. if you are looking for a battery long reach hedge cutter I would recommend the hsa65 infinity better than 130r in every way.

@@MrGardener18 I'm also looking at the husqvarna battery tools as well, in terms of price and build quality of the hsa 86 to the husqvarna 520ihd60, the husqvarna is better for me, I will eventually purchase the hsa 94r but I cant afford it at moment.

hi Jason im not 100% sure if it is fully waterproof or not the connections to the machine and the new battery are waterproof but I won't recommend using it in the pouring rain but it should be absolutely fine if the hedge is damp or there a bit of rain about.

Good review, I think stills blades are a weaker metal than those used on echos. I have used the echo long reach and short hedge cutters in all conditions, fine and rough cut and they stay sharp for ages, where Stihl don't. for fine work only im sure its good.I haven't used echo cordless so can't comment

I couldn't say I never used any echo tools. I definitely will be looking into echo tools especially if they start doing pro battery tools.

Echo tools are great! Especially the strimmers i find myswlf..would like one of these two just the price of battery does it for me and I dont know how you would go on up a ladder as opposed to with a petrol one so may aswell use that for now...

When you say the price don't forget that the battery and charger makes it more like £1000.

Hello! What are the main differences between the HSA 94 T and the HSA 94 R? Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply!

There are few differences between them which stem from there intended uses. The 94t is for fine hedge topiary est so it has a much fast stroke rate and slightly small tooth spacing. It is also slightly lighter. R is intended for more general and rugged work so is has a slower stroke rate beefed up gearbox and has a bigger tooth spaceing. Both are great machine it's just a case of which features you need more.
