Wilms and myself are in discussions of what adventures to undertake. If I get it licensed for the road we still might trailer it to places to avoid the aggressive freeways and big trucks.

Don't know how I missed seeing this episode earlier. I hope the drone survived. Great tour of the farm. Looks like a beautiful spot. I do hope we see more of the Land Rover in the future. Congratulations on completing the project.

Greetings Michael, the drone somehow flew itself out of it's predicament, which is a good thing as it was a very tall tree. The old Rover is doing great and is already licensed for the road. Will no doubt feature in a few films sometime in the future.

Hello Mr Foreman, Hello from France, I’m the owner of a 1955 Series 1 needing some revival. You’ve said in one of your episodes (8th) that they were not tutorial …. OK with that (or may be not😅🤣😂) because what you have done renovating your Series 1 is inspiring, encouraging and giving strength to anyone who have to undertake such a renovation. Your sense of humor competes with your rigorous work, excellent Thank’s again for sharing your adventure worlwide, great achievement. All the best for you, your family and the dog. Keep on Land Rovering.

Waffling at a level 6, good to see the no road testing is progressing, it certainly has been a fantastic journey and very informative cinematic one, how does the camerman fly i wonder. woops camera person damn almost got carried away gender assuming, i sometimes need to do as the ol mick dundee would do and check. Huge respect to you, Gavin, and to Ms. Wilms and Krikkett. You guys are the sort of people who will reach your end of days with few regrets. As a film maker in a previous life, I so appreciate the countless hours you have put into your videos and the final quality. The animation also blows me away. I loved the back story at the beginning and the drone in the tree at the end (I can relate). When you are both sitting in your comfy chairs years from now, you will have an amazing library of videos to look back on. Congrats to all of you!

Thanks! The old drone in the tree scenario is always tragic. I got lucky on this one and the thing flew itself out and was recovered unscathed. It was a tall tree and would have been a tough climb for a 90kg human man of some antiquity.

I've filmed hours of stuff on the Disco that never got edited as it just lacked the right mojo. It was good stage practice for the series 1 episodes though. It does mean the Disco has had a pretty good restoration behind the scenes and even though there are still little jobs to do it's running well. Quite a feat as it was falling to pieces when we got it.

The fuel gauge and sender are matched. Series 1 vs series 2. Rovers north or Pangolin 4x4 can set you straight. Bittersweet to see that beautiful rig moving. What’s your next project?😂
@ForemanAndWilmsAdventures
@ForemanAndWilmsAdventures 3 ай бұрын
Greetings Bob, I'm thinking you're right on the gauge analysis, provided I remember E is full and F not the thing works well enough. I could look into reversing the float arm to cheat the system. No future projects at present, I don't have the years of life, money or love to spare to take on another Rover. I'll endeavor to look after what I have.
@Bavvo69
@Bavvo69 3 ай бұрын
Fantastic to see it getting its feet wet at last Mr Foreman 🙂 By the way, looks like your fuel gauge is incompatible with your fuel sender. There are two types on these older vehicles. Electromagnetic, which your gauge is (you can tell because the needle moves as soon as powered), and electro-thermal, which would be what your sender is. They work the opposite way round to each other, increasing resistance on the sender would move the needle left on one type and right on the other. It's probably easier to swap the gauge as they are very common second hand. The ampmeter is supposed to be comnnected in series so that the entire cars electrical load (with the exception of the starter motor) runs through it. Not a great idea with the higher current of modern electrical loads, which is why thery were generally dropped in favour of voltmeters.
@ForemanAndWilmsAdventures
@ForemanAndWilmsAdventures 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for that info. I haven't bothered to check yet if I can reverse the mechanical arm on the sender to cheat the system though provided I remember the reverse readings it does work. I've been toying with the idea of fabricating a new dash panel custom for after market gauges though I'll see how the truck gets used over time and how important that might be.

What tyres did you fit? All terrain? My odometre is my fuel gauge. Does anybody have a reliable fuel gauge??? Outstanding and sustained effort to get to this point. Congratulations are richly earned and deserved. Bravo mate, bravo! Thanks so much for sharing the epic journey. It's a lovely old Land Rover. I grew up near to the factory in Solihull and a friends' father worked on the assembly line until being laid off in the 70s. You are one of the finest bits of self-defecating detritus to wash up anywhere. Stay good.

Thankyou 1 unsung. The tires are a mud terrain from a brand I've never heard of called Nexen 7.5/16. I asked my tire man for a mid range priced tire for the testing phase and so far I like them. The down sides are they chuck rocks and worse still, the effects of a fresh cow patty can be devastating to both vehicle, driver and dog. I think the axles are from a 2A donor along with wider tires have them protrude beyond the side of the body. One gets the full rural experience. Puts a new twist on the term self defecation.

Have been here since you where both back in aus and am now a little older. Have enjoyed all the land rover videos from start to finish and am now saddened by the showing of what is effectively the end. Personally the best was left to last with the tour as we mainly have seen the workshop and your brilliant companions. Can't wait to see what you get up to in the future with your unique Aussie twist. Where all a bit unique in the land down under with our evere evolving character and twisted sence of humour that my wife of 45 years and 50 in Australia from us 🇺🇸 never seems to quite get . Thank you for sharing and I wish you all the best. Cheers.

So you've married an American lass as well, they're not a bad bunch. I think they understand our humour quite well but know it's best not to encourage us. Too much of a good thing and all. I'd quite like to make more Australian films, a zig zagging continental mockumentry featuring all our pigeons and doves with a guest appearance of the noisy scrub bird if I could find one. I doubt it will ever happen. Life is too short.

Absolutely wonderful video it would have to be your best, in my opinion. Congratulations on all the hard work for five years on the landy. You gotta watch those editing staff as they didn't even physically close the gate near the end. Great work to both of you. Cheers from Port Hedland WA.

Thanks Dave, the editors did in fact sneakily close the gate during the swap from camera to drone. The cows can smell and open gate from 2 miles away and our neighbors horses are even craftier. Say G'day to all the folk up in Hedland for us. Some good countryside up that way.

I can only add my appreciation here for the work that you have done - On the truck itself as well the production of the series. Worth a mint. Genuinely in part responsible for getting me re-inspired to finish fixing my own lump that's currently standing on jacks under a lean-to. You could do some follow-up talks about the realities of doing these re-builds - how long things really take, the costs and the frustrations. Basically a retrospective of the F&*%k-ups. Best Wishes.

Yes Gav! I was concerned watching an experienced Aussie bushman ignoring one of the golden rules of outback etiquette. I renovated a 1942 MB Willys in late 2000s it took me about 5 years to complete it too! Like you the first few drives were completely absorbing and satisfying and very much grin inducing! Job well done cobber! Glitches will occur for some time but eventually disappear...although it is a Landrover! I very much enjoyed your short African biography. Thanks for the great series! Keep up the irresponsible editing!

Our neighbor has an old jeep of similar vintage as to what you restored, I've been sick with jealously watching him drive about in it while Grevison was bare bones chassis in the workshop. I was glad to be able to use the African photos rather than have them sitting on a hard drive doing nothing. I made sure to mention the gate situation anticipating a good crucifixion if I left the audience in the dark.

Greetings there, I'm very happy with how things turned out and the series of videos also. I initially intended for a series of short updates but that didn't go as planned and it got complicated. A hard drive failure almost derailed the final episode but a princely sum of money and 1 month of waiting saw all come good again. It's a really fun little truck and is already stacked with tools and out working.. Fixing gates.

What a great end to a monumental challenge, I will get one of those resistor/voltage regulators as my gauges are doing the same thing. I think you might have wires back to front on fuel gauge. I had that happen just swapped them over and now it works(sometimes) . I had to watch on the big screen such an occasion warranted it along with suitable beverage and snacks. I hope you take it on an adventure before the wind changes and you set off on something else. Thanks again it has been a wonderful journey you have taken us all along, cinematic genius. All the best.😀

Thanks Gippy. I tried the wire swap on the fuel gauge but no joy. They're just not compatible and the solution would be to discard the old gauge for an aftermarket mated pair sender and gauge. That being said, provided I see E as full and F as empty it works well enough. I think Grevison will be out on a few adventures in the future as it is too much fun to pass up. We might be on the lookout for a second hand car trailer to avoid driving it on the big freeways with the trucks.
