High dynamic range- an expanded colour gamut for displays that are capable of displaying it. It allows deeper blacks and brighter whites which also allows a more accurate colour response. Aka should look more like what our eyes see rather than what exaggerated colours most older displays could reproduce ! Also your iPhone records in a much higher quality than most dedicated camera I would never have guessed you were using an iPhone !

Boy! Is that 'power egg' a tight fit. As an apprentice I worked at J Sankey in Shropshire where the 432 final assembly took place and ! even had a ride in one on the test rack there. New with engines direct from RR they did not smoke at all but they certainly sounded the exactly the same. Well done. Now see if it still floats!

The extra tooth on the starter should help the engine turn over faster, in the car community that I belong to(Mazda RX8) it's common to use a starter with an extra tooth and this helps tremendously with the cranking speed(in a rotary compression is directly proportional to engine speed)

That crook sound and smoke said an injector or pump element was sick. I worked on Rolls Diesels (C range) when I served my Apprenticeship 50 years ago . They ran a lot smoother than the Equivalent Leylands etc but not like a Gardner. The supercharger was always a test, if the rebuilt unit lasted 3-4 minutes on first start up,it was OK. I think that smoke is actually NATO option 666 ,Smoke effect.

Brilliant. I reckon that motor will settle in, after all it's been waiting 13 years. I built an old 1947 Bedford 214 out of 3 engines, it took a little to settle in, then it was happy and ran for years until I sold the Truck.

Like the auto extraction of dead exhaust baffles on start up! Remember humping 20 litres cans onto the roof to fuel up. They do have the ability to slide down grassy slopes with or without power! Sounds a slight knock on exhaust recollection is they sounded more hollow. Maybe a lack of baffles in exhaust.

I believe in my heart that you can use clear windscreen washer hose shoved on top of the pump to match the element flows. Need some spare injector pipes to chop off though. I never tried it because it never came up. :o) (same as filling the rad with oil on a bad head gasket)

reading this and thought similar. I have 3 cheap water levels cut off near the measuring section located in a bit of wood with a spirit level bubble glued on it to keep them level and some ends off old hardlines to screw on the pump, so covers 6 pump elements with graticules on the fatter diameter for under 15 quid. Spin the engine over until the diesel levels are at a reasonable level and observe. The larger diameter of the measuring bit improves accuracy. This is pretty close to the measuring section of a oldschool diesel phasing and calibration rig that I was trained on at tech college many moons ago... I've bought a few old crappers and sorted the pumps out myself using it. That, a cheap popoff tare and spray tester for injectors and a bit of care and your away.
