There’s an issue I've ran into and I know a lot of you have run into it as well. And that’s trying to set up a smart home device that specifies that it needs a 2.4 gigahertz connection. But the device just isn’t connecting and it won’t seem to work.
All you need to do is temporarily turn off your 5 GHz and this quick video shows you how.
Once you turn off the 5 GHz connection, the set up should go fine.

Hi, I'm on sky and it's not like that, no on/off like you have, instead under the 2.4 wireless header it's got 'synchronize 2.4 & 5 and an on/off option & the same under the 5ghz header, I got my security camera connected but then my phone and other devices would go onto 2.4 so Iv gone back into it to see if a setting isn't right but now my security camera is offline and I'm totally stuck what to do, synchronize or not 🤷🏼‍♀️ why isn't sky settings as simple as the on/off you have there🤦🏼‍♀️

I made three calls to optimum Internet provider and try to troubleshoot a Moen leak detector that I have since come to find out runs on 2.4. These people could not figure out their way out of a paper bag. They send a technician out to my house. The guy could not wait to leave he did absolutely nothing. If it doesn’t involve changing a router he’s clueless. Thanks for your help this was very helpful

This video was perfect! I spent some time trying to connect my new robovac to my 2.4GHz wifi. Although, my phone was only connected to 2.4G, it would not connect. I watched your video, logged into my router, suspended 5G and voila. It took about 2 minutes. 2.4GHz product users everywhere need to see this. Most are unaware that, although their controlling device is only connected to 2.4GHz, having a dual band router somehow confuses the device being connected and the connection just won't occur. Thank you for your tech advice. Liked and subscribed.

I have govee tv lights connected to a Three 5G router. I have gone into the dashboard and turned off 5G, but I am still not able to set the lights up. Are there any suggestions?

Is there any way to move the lights further from the router to set them up? Once set up it should be ok to return them to the TV. I did it here with a smart bulb. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bp9irJaQ1J7SdmQ.html

I've tried this on both my computer and phone and it says connection is not private. There is no other choice to choose besides back to safety. Can I get it around this?

So if your phone connects to the 5GHZ network typically, when you turn the 5GHZ off, your phone will then connect to the 2.4GHZ then?

It's the smart device that connects to 2.4 via the app on your phone.

@@UTILITARIANTVUK Is this video a solution for those of us who want to permanently disable 5G on our phone and use whatever else is left to connect to the internet? Sorry for my stupid question but i don't know how else to ask... I am highly sensitive to EMF as is, i don't want to increase it any further. I don't care about super high speed, i am fine with 4G LTE that i had on my previous phone. Please reply. Thanks in advance.

@@martap.548 5g and 5GHz are not the same thing sorry.. 5GHz is a frequency your router uses. 5g is a mobile/cell phone network.

How can I do this on a Netgear (Orbi) Router? There doesn't appear to be a setting to shut off either band. In wireless settings, you can only disable Wifi-6, not the actual 2.4 and 5ghz bands.

I believe you need to turn down the 5 GHz signal strength on those routers? go to Advanced Setup>Wireless Settings>Advanced Wireless Settings (5GHz 802.11a/n/ac)>Transmit Power Control and decrease the 5GHz strength to 25%

Alternatively, you can move the device you're trying to set up further away from the router. Example in this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bp9irJaQ1J7SdmQ.html

@@UTILITARIANTVUK I'm using an RBK853. Was trying to set up a smart plug that only uses 2.4ghz. You are right, lowering it to 25% and unplugging any satellites you are near seems to be the only viable solution I could find as you cannot completely shut off the signal for whatever reason. Thank you for your help!
