I think the idea behind giving John Wick a Glock is that they're supposed to be dime-a-dozen, letting him grab extra ammunition from bodies with relative frequency.

No point having a gun if you cannot easily get extra ammunition for it. Especially if it's from the last guy you just shot.

The one thing I really like about that Rome Continental scene is the fact that "Are you here for the Pope?" is a legitimate concern for this man, and that the guy knows John could do it. It feels kinda like he's asking so he can start damage control before it actually happens, rather than to try to stop John.

"Fortune favors the bold" I have heard it in movies or storys in regards to I guess ancient Rome, seing what langue it is and all. Also huge respect for your knowledge on so many different topics in this video!. Having someone teaching us all about it and in such a good voice is really nice, and as someone else wrote I wish my teachers where more like you. If you have not seen the training that Keanu did at the gun range I higly suggest it, it is a short youtube video where they show him and an actress from the third movie practicing to aim, shoot, move, reload with guns etc and doing it fast on a track. That is not just a marker that is THE marker bettween John and D''Santonio(???), remember that Wilson made him put his thumb print on it. And no I have not seen the Third movie of this francies so I am not spoiling anything.

Mini fun fact - both Michael Nyqvist who played Viggo and Peter Stormare who plays Viggos unnamed brother, are swedish. We sadly lost Michael 2017 to lung cancer. He's a beloved swedish actor and he will be greatly missed. Btw, John's tattoo Basically says "Fortune favours the bold" as is the popular saying, but apparently the correct translation is "Fortune will come to save the strong ones"(which, could be interpreted the same)

It's been a bit since I last saw the movie, but I don't remember them ever claiming the Rome bits were in New York or anything. I just assumed that for the sake of streamlining the runtime they just didn't show the actual travel between and just gave the audience credit for figuring that out on their own.

Except the museum is supposed to be in NYC. We get to know this because he goes and gets his passport and traveling clothes from the Jewish shop *after* he has his visit with Santino in that museum. And then we revisit the museum after Mr Wick returns to NYC from Rome. We know this because he goes from his visit with Bowery King in Brooklyn(?) straight to the museum in underground tunnels.
@crankyguardian

@@crankyguardian They may have, but it's still a stand in for some other museum in NYC. There is no other way to take it as being so, going off of the other clues given in the film. How else does John get from a building in the Bowery (a neighborhood in NYC) to that museum using an underground tunnel if that's not the case? Besides, film makers often use one location in city A as a stand-in for a similar location in city B. For example; in Marvel's Moon Knight they use the exterior of the natural history museum in Prague as a stand-in for the natural history museum in London. I'm not saying the museum itself isn't in Rome IRL, just that the museum as presented in the film JW2 is supposed to be in NYC.

Quick note on your question about Morpheus’ pigeons: I am assuming Morpheus is using pigeons to get important info to their recipients, and he’s using such a crude method to do so to avoid hacking…potentially compromising critical info that shouldn’t get into the hands of wrong people.
@blacksheep_edge1412
@blacksheep_edge1412 Жыл бұрын
This is exactly correct. The only way to "intercept" messages sent via carrier pigeon is to shoot it out of the sky. But with all the birds flying around the city there's no way to be sure you're shooting the right bird. Truly ingenious low tech method of reliably sending and receiving messages, and information in the modern age.
@Arthaius
@Arthaius Жыл бұрын
@@blacksheep_edge1412 - Hell yes, Low-Tech is and always has been the superior clandestine way to do things - modern new age advanced shit is great for video games and computer programs - but Low-Tech can always find ways around High Tech, and unlike High-Tech, Low-Tech is frequently difficult if not impossible to trace. It's why so many criminals use briefcases of 50 million dollars in cash, instead of just a bank transfer - because cash can't really be traced. A hand written note, burned after having been read is permanently gone, but an E-Mail can always be pulled out of a buffer or something. Low-Tech rules.

One of my favorite little details is for the scene for 32:28 when we see John switch guns from his left to his right hand, indicating he was shooting in the prior scenes with his non-dominant hand. The enemies would see his reflection and think it's actually him cause the gun looks like it's in his dominant hand. Most goons are probably not that aware, but I think it says a lot about the character that he'd not only have the skill to be able to shoot well with both hands, but also use whatever edge he can leverage, and the tactical thought to be that aware of his environment.

I didn't know the artworks presented in the film other than that the painting was of the Italian Civil War, or that they were in the National Gallery of Rome, but it's likely that Santino D'Antonio had replicas made and turned his private museum into a copy of the National Gallery because he was so jealous of his sister that he was willing to pay a premium for display replicas of these incredibly significant pieces, as if he could buy Rome and the D'Antonio Seat at the High Table out from under her.

For someone who appreciates art like you. I think you would enjoy "The Monuments Men". A rather decent, if dramatized, telling of a world war II unit of various art experts who were tasked to minimize damage to works of art and fine architecture during combat and to find and recover as many as possible pieces of art stolen by the Nazis in their conquest of Europe. I am unsure if you will weep or rage at what happens to Raphael's Portrait of a Young Man.

I agree with your comments on Glocks. Personally I like the weight and solid feel of a classic 1911A1.

If I may, it's refreshing to see someone with so much art history knowledge wearing a Death Row shirt. ;) Also, your G34 issues are probably ammo related. I have a G35 with more than 3k rounds through it. Never a jam. That said, I prefer SIGs.

It may only hold 7 rounds as standard, 10 with a Chip McCormick mag, but I'm an old fart that loves the classic styling of the 1911A1 in .45ACP. It's the '57 Chevy Bel Air of handguns.

Love your reaction video and I realize you have to alter the picture to not get a copyright strike, but because of the colors in the background we can't see the movie. Other than that keep up the excellent work sir.

Hate you didn't notice what the Roam Manager did at 19:12 ish. He sees John is back, and the very first thing he thinks and asks is "Are you here for the Pope?" Cause why else would John fucking Wick be in Roam? lol

22:32 You where on point with the meaning of Johns Tatoo although the translation of "fortis fortuna adiuvat" would be "Fortune favors the brave" from Latin... very nice video reaction, I really enjoyed the fact that you knew so many details of the scenes, like the paintings, places, etc.

If I am not mistaken, it is not a stock Glock 34. I believe it is a Combat Master from Taran Tactical. I agree with you, Glock (or Blocks as I like to refer to them) are not that great out of the box. If you invest more upgrading it than you paid for the gun to begin with, you can come away with a decent pistol. The HK P30L he used in the first movie is a much better weapon.

Fortune favors the bold is a phrase that people use a little to often to rationalize unnecessary risks. Fortune favors the bold; true, but graveyards are full of people who mistook brashness for boldness.

Here was a sure-fire way to become the most well-paid assassin in New York during this entire movie: When you wake up and see the open contract, you decide to take a short vacation. When you get back, your services will be in great demand, as the total supply of hitmen will have been absolutely decimated. Also, the entire "avenge my sister's murder" thing by Santino comes down to a very simple issue for him. Nobody knows that he was behind her hit, and he would look like a coward in the criminal underworld if he just let his sister's murderer go free. He needed to kill John to save face.
