All of So Hyang's performances are IMPRESSIVE. Even when she sings in Korean, it is not necessary to understand the lyrics, because So Hyang is BRILLIANT at conveying the meaning/message of the song. If you choose to react to So Hyang's performances on the tv show, 'King Of The Mask Singer, you will see/hear her conquer several genres of music; rock, rap and dance music, in addition to the heartfelt ballads. For me, one song stands out, 'Hug Me.' She also sang this song at the DMC Festival. Both times, the vocals are MAGNIFICENT and sound exactly the same. The difference, at the DMC Festival, you could see that she was not well, and sitting down, as she was still recovering from pneumonia. She was also not well when she sang, 'You Raise Me Up.'

I have noticed that I can only find mostly live performances of her doing Whitney's songs (makes sense) and I must say they stand up to or exceed Whitney's live versions of the same songs, in every way -- power, range, clarity, vocal control, and presence (emotional outpouring). I have listened to opera singers say this woman (Sohyang) has some of the most advanced skills of any singer in the world. That being said I will always love Whitney and that tonal quality that will obviously live forever! And of course one reason Sohyang does Whitney's songs is because she was moved to, and she feels, too, that she can actually do them incredible justice. They are two of the greatest vocalist the world has ever heard. Anyway, that is my humble opinion. I really enjoy your critiques!

While I, like most, find her "epic" performances incredibly impressive. As I said on another thread, I am particularly fond of her stripped-down appearances on 'Begin Again'. I think you might gain an even stronger admiration for her talents. I would suggest 'If I Ain't Got You', 'Love Poem', or 'Stay'. They are unearthly in their delicate beauty.

In several of her KZfaq/Vimeo videos, she was performing against the advice of her physicians, as she was still recovering from pneumonia. Of course, those performances were SPECTACULAR. So Hyang is ALWAYS in top form. Vocal coaches have stated the vocal tricks in So Hyang's arsenal, are technically difficult to do, and impossible for the average singer. However, So Hyang makes these transitions appear EFFORTLESS and FLAWLESS.

I love So Hyang so much. Her talent is excellent. Best. OMG. It is so beautiful. Incredible. There are other great singers like Sohyang in South Korea. Arirang Alone from Immortal Songs 2 is the next logical one. Lean on me is a beast performance too. Her cover of Misty from Begin Again concert is just great though and it's all light soft voice. She has a ton. Oh holy night black and purple dress version is great. Mona Lisa is rocky with some really high mixed parts...lol. Lean in me has that same crazy high mix too. I have nothing also from Begin Again concert too. Where are you is yet another... just watch out as one version out there has interviews inserted throughout it.
