I think its pretty telling that even after Whitebeard's death, Marco hasnt joined any crew, like Shanks for example who clearly welcomed him. It just doesnt fit who Marco is. Jinbei was written as the man who adored Whitebeard but was swayed by Luffy during Marineford saga. He fills that "whitebeard ally being won over and finding something new to believe in" niche.

A ton of fans just see One Piece like Super Smash Bros. Just waiting on character reveals and giving them a neat and arbitrary label to fit their head canon with barely any consideration for the story itself. It's a lot of spit-balling with the only reasoning being, "Wouldn't it be cool if...?" I wouldn't pay attention to it at all. I'd rather just let the story flow naturally and whatever happens, happens. I trust in Oda making an engaging story without pandering to these sorts of things too much.

I think the fandom often overestimate some characters’ relevance in the story.

Luffy didn’t even want any of them to follow him but they were stubborn because he saved them all and they dedicated their lives to him regardless. People like Marco and Katakuri are veterans/older generation and they are more likely to take a step back for Luffy because it’s his Era They aren’t going to join under him, they’re more likely to stand with him when he needs it but they’ll never serve under him. The whole point of them is that they aren’t as major players in the world as big name pirates, which’ll make them able to create their own legacy with Luffy. “These members will be the spark for a big event that will go down in history” Last time we heard an ominous line like that was after Ace lost to Blackbeard and Marineford War was hinted I think they are unknown intentionally and it’ll make what they do later down the line that more impactful

The distinction of the categories is on point. Nations are their own thing, Grand Fleet members are subordinates, and then you have Allies. On your point with the Minks and Samurai though, I believe they will be indebted enough to Luffy by the end of Wano to want to serve as subordinates. And I think the interesting aspect with both those nations is that since they are both isolated, you could get people who are inspired to create a crew and explore on their own. Could even be a mink-samurai crew as one. As for the captain, Carrot could be one (though I'm on board with her for SH), Kinemon perhaps but I see your point about wanting to stay back. Could be Denjiro? Perhaps it's possible the Shimotsuki connection is there and he has the motivation to travel out to sea as well?

I definitely think that the Grand Fleet are a group bonded by their shared experience of fighting in Dressrosa. As such, the only character I can really see maybe joining is Bellamy, but he could also easily remain an independent ally.

I think theirs a small chance depending on how their written that a flying six member or two could join. Considering they are already pirate captains they will most likely go back to being one at the end of this arc. If that's the case then they may end up being unimportant enough to join. It's still highly speculative though it all depends on the rest of this arc on how well they actually fit

I think there’s a fourth category there, an organization that I can’t imagine bring allied with the Straw hats in the strictest sense of the word, and also not a nation: The Revolutionary Army. If we imagine the endgame war to be the Strawhat crew along with all parties that will fight with them in the final battle, then we can’t discount this organization. Yes Dragon is Luffy’s father and Sabo is his “brother” but as an organization they have different objectives than the Straw hats, although I can imagine them taking the opportunity to fight alongside them for that sake. Also, there’s a blurry line there with Boa. The whole Kuja tribe reports under her so they can be both an “allied nation” or just an “allied crew”. There’s also the fact that Boa is romantically attracted to Luffy and it’s not outside the realm of possibility with her asking to be subordinate to him. I agree and understand with all your points though but just with Boa, there’s that slim chance.

I think that the Straw-hats grand fleet will stay with just those 7 captains, while everyone else will be an allied of the Straw-hats, either through alliance like Law or just an allied, who are willing to help out the Straw-hats if they were to be in trouble.

I can definitely see at the end of Wano giving us some samurai and even Minks forming some of the Grand Fleet divisions. I am not taking about someone like Neko and Inu or Hyogoro but some minor characters like Rudy and maybe Sicilian who respects the crew enough to be their subordinates.

The Grand Fleet will never grow larger. It's against the established Luffy Code of 1548, which states that "No Straw Hat Fleet may exceed more than 6000 members.". Now I'm not sure of the current count of the fleet (thanks to Orlumbus), but I would wager that any big profile increase in manpower is unconstitutional, and is therefore, null and invalid.

Mr Morj while I do agree with on all of your talking points but I feel as tough you forgot about Pekoms. Pekoms can be seen as a Big Mom traitor with a potential to join the Grand Fleet. According to your own viewpoints Pekoms actually fits in this scenario. Here are some points; Pekoms is a minor character with some background, just like other members of the SHGF he is shown to have fighting capabilities as well a pretty high bounty. Furthermore, he has a general reason to ally himself to the Straw Hats just like all the other members of the SHGf. Lastly, he already betrayed Big Mom for the sake of helping the Straw Hats which further proves some potential in a future alliance. Here's my candidates for the Straw Hat Grand Fleet; Pekoms & Carrot(Traveling Together), Aladdin(Along the rest of the Sun Pirate), Caribou and Bellamy for the same reason you explain earlier.

Honestly, for the Great Flee, I currently see only one addition : Carrot and a delegation of Minks for the 8th crew. It would be kind of the throwback of when Inurashi & Nekomamushi joins the Scabbards back in the day. Moreover, Carrot's characterization seems quite close to Cavendish, Bartolemeo and Leo's, in my opinion... or maybe it's just because I found her really fun ! Maybe Hyogoro & the Yakuza could fit too... or maybe Kikunojo and some samurai, but she may be already too much characterize due to her flashback with Oden... I also would see Shinobu, but I don't think she would leave Wano, and it feel like she is the last "good" ninja, with Raizo, so would not make sense to make a crew with only her.

I think Brownbeard might join Grand fleet. At first I thought he is too weak and he was evil scum in the past. But if you think about it, he is now changed man and somewhat "good" guy. He got good & small character arc in Punk Hazard. It was good enough to make him shine most among all the other non major characters but it was small enough to not outshine straw hats. And he is definitely indebted to Luffy and Straw Hats a lot. All his characterization is similar to all other grand fleet captains. He also has some underlings in PH. All of them are weird, artificial centaur kind of people made by Caesar and Law. Similar to giants and tontattas, their theme can be Centaurs. But similar to how you suggested, I also thought that he was weak to be Grand Fleet Captain. And that was my only issue. But then I realised something. You know how after SH and Tashigi left PH, Brownbeard went back to save his petrified underlings. There is a chance that he might have found the 'Salamander fruit: Axolotl model'. That DF was still there after smiley died and we never got to see what happened with it. Now Brownbeard is already half lizard, so if he ate it, Oda might be able to create some funny moments as his appearance might not change drastically. But it will definitely make him alot stronger and worthy of grand fleet captain. So far among the current 7 captains only 2 have DF powers. Therefore his addition will definitely bring some veriety. If there is battle on the land, then his Centaur crew will look cool charging into battle, carrying allies on the back.

Bellamy's story is heading towards him being a subordinate. He was in a doubt like should I or should I not at end of dressrosa but took the vivre card just in case. He will need some time. I really think Yamato will become a crew mate. Straw hats are in need of strong crew mates & who is perfect that her. Smoker might become (I really want him to be) a crew mate.

From Wano you're forgetting about the tobi roppo, they make perfect sense to join the grand fleet as they are relatively low importance to the story when looking at the grand scheme of things and they allegiance since to be tied to the person they view as the most power. meaning if kaido gets taken down by the end of the at they are likely to follow who ever they view as the most powerful. Also i believe a key thing to remember about the grand fleet in general is the fact that they must choose to give up their ambition of becoming a stand-alone pirate order to become sons to Luffy and the straw hats. This means pirates like the super novas who were all pirates who characterized as strong willed pirates with the same goal to become pirate king will likely never follow under Luffy and give up their one dream. I think will and ambition are important themes in the overall story and it wouldn't be like Oda to introduce characters with great ambition only to throw it away only to serve the main character.

The grand fleet should probably have their own tobi roppo level fighters. Mid fighters like oven and daifuku. I can also see Luffy getting remnants of the beast pirates if kaido is defeated. Not the commanders but like gifters and pleasures

The grand fleet is doing stuff in the background like Bartolomeo taking over one of shanks’ islands, so maybe when we see them again they won’t be so insignificant and the more important grand fleet members will be closer in notoriety to the actual grand fleet members

I agree with this analysis. I never imagined big name character ever to be subordinate like grand fleet. Marco , Hancock have already trained themselves to a high level while the grand fleet are training themselves. Maybe Yamato, Carrot or Bon clay join the main crew. Hancock will probably ally with SH now that shichibukai system has been abolished. Buggy may or may not (he may ally with shanks) , rest none of the earlier shichibukai. Some may not ally but will help in the ultimate war like Marco, katakuri, Crocodile etc. But doesn't formally ally. Even Sabo/Dragon though Luffy's brother/dad will come to his aid in final war but won't formally ally revolutionary army and Straw Hat.

People need to remember that the Grand Fleet are part of an earth shaking event. Plus, it's very likely they will be apart of the Blackbeard pirates fight since each member is a captain of their own crew. The Fleet will need to equal that so we should get roughly 3-4 more. My prediction: Boa, Carrot (Minks rep), and Momo (Hiyori will be shogun).

This video is a big yes for me. Just like Mr M said there's a big distinction between allies and subordinates. I can't imagine Katakuri drinking the son sakazuki to luffy. But he's definitely going to be an ally like Marco It's pretty much "don't mess with the straw hats if you don't want the smoke with me"

I'm with you 100% I never thought we would get more fleet members for the same reasons you stated. My question though is, will the Grand Fleet ever be used officially in the story? I think they could get involved in the final war or rescue Vivi if she's actually in trouble but I don't see them be used for anything other those two things.

Their part in the story will be somewhat like Franky family and Gally la Ship Wrights during the raid on Ennies Lobby.. Taking out fodders, making way, helping the core crew.. But a little more epic than that.

A lot of people say law will join the straw hats or the grande fleet, as cool as it would be, I honestly think law would never be a subordinate of Luffy. I think he would remain as equals in an alliance. But who knows.
