1984 has been my favorite book since I read it for the first time when I was 12. I've read it 7 times since, finishing it most recently earlier today. I literally was brought to tears at my desk at work while listening to this. The entire album is a masterpiece.

The album was inspired by George Orwell's 1984. The sad irony of your comment is that the main character of the novel fell in love, and strongly believed that his and his partner's love could topple the corrupt governments that had control of the world... the later songs of the album referencing how he failed, tortured into submission. Even love can crumble if the pressure is tough enough.

And why should not love suffice? It can be a simple smile, or a small service that costs us nothing. That may be enough to change someone's day. I think love could be an intelligent solution to problems that violence did not solve, as Nelson Mandela did in his country, just my opinion though.

You haven't read 1984, have you? As I said, love in that novel does not suffice. It withers and crumbles against the Ministry of Truth. You torture someone enough, they will happily sell the ones most dear to them out in seconds. Even love fails at the end of the novel. Its good, you should read it.

One of the best Muse easter eggs I suppose is listening to the start and end of Resistance and that one section toward the end of Citizen Erased. It's like they took the 'sound' and evolved it somewhat. I just thought it's pretty cool.

Took me a while to get into this album, but freaking love it now!! Wow!! Looking at the art work and the title of the exogenesis trilogy, I wonder if Bellamy took influence from a little hidden gem of a book called 'Dawn' (from her exogenesis trilogy) by Octavia Butler. It a real page turner science fiction read I was given by my history professor when I was studying his history of genetics course. It has some fascinating themes and it seems to me that there is quite a lot of that book in here.

The film made in 1984 is for the most part pretty accurate to the book. It has a chilling soundtrack. Don't even mess with the film made in the 50s or 60s or whenever it was made
