I increased the length of the primary hull to be more symmetrical with the saucer section. The Main Deflector was redesigned. The Nacelle Pylons were moved back and increased on the "Z" Axis. The Nacelles were increased in length and designed to represent the Progression from the Ambassador Class. The result is a more balanced and aesthetically pleasing Star ship.

I expected the ship form the Tim Allen movie named "Galaxy Quest", but pretty good. That said, at the scale of impact, the speed of joining of the two hulls would have caused damage if not lose of life.

I love the original NCC 1701-D, it is my favourite ship but I have to say, I love this design even more. The nacelles look so much better and I could see the Excelsior class design cues straight away. The deflector dish redesign is a major improvement too and the neck looks much more graceful and natural. Great job.

I do, it's a bit bulky but after all the 23rd century like vessels (Excelsior, Ambassador, etc.) it does seem like a next step in tech. It wouldn't be at least until 20+ years that say such as Promethius and Sovereign were common classes in tech level. With their sleek, thinner veneers.

Very nice. I like the Galaxy class or perhaps more accurately stated, it grew on me over time. But the saucer strikes me disproportionately big to the rest of the ship. I'm glad to see a variant with what are to me better proportioned modules.

The nacelles should not be behind the disc section. They need to be either below it, or above it. EDIT: I see others made the same comment. Lovely model by the way. I wish I had your talent. These ships are so iconic. I am not even a real Star Trek fan, but I do feel that this is how spaceships necessarily would have to look in the future. That is nonsense, of course, but these designs are etched into my mind.

Nacelles don't generate actual thrust though, hence why ships like the Centaur class are plausible. They just create the warp bubble while the ship itself remains technically at a standstill within the warp bubble.

I’ve gotta say, this is a pretty damn good design. One issue I have is that the engineering Hull seems like it tapers back to too fine of an edge at the back, which suggests that the extra space in the engineering hull isn’t being used very efficiently.

I would like to see a ship similar to this design in a distant Star Trek future where as the peace between the Klingons and Romulans and Federation abide. The ship would have a large saucer section and resemble a galaxy class ship but in battle the nacelles would fold downward like a bird of prey and detached saucer section would have added armaments to protect it. 2 ships are better than 1 in battle and diplomacy.

Or even if it remains lifeboat/fighter at least give the saucer more engineering and actual warp capacity even if only warp 1-2. The faster a lifeboat gets out of danger the more safe those on it are.

love it, you really need to work for Paramount (or CBS) in the Star Trek movies and TV shows. --- also I wish TNG used the saucer separation more often, or I would have liked to have seen just a stardrive ship pull up next to Enterprise-D and have Data call it it's own class of ship -- something like Galaxy Class = Planetary class (Saucer section) + Stellar class (stardrive section) it was two spaceships in one and they only used it 4 times (and in the 4th time Troi crashed it)

I love your videos I know this must take lots of time, I think this missed the mark a little other than the slight redesign on the Nacelle section of the secondary hull it was still the same Galaxy class ship. Also your numbering I.D. confused me. When Enterprise-D launched she was first in her class and continued the 17 series of numbers for her class. Shouldn't this also be a ship of the line? I'm sorry I'm 57 and I've just seen and lived too much Trek. I hope no offense is taken, I'm still just a big kid nerd. This was great as always.

Not gonna lie, I didn't think I was going to like this - being pretty fond of the original Galaxy - but I actually really do! The new nacelles work particularly nicely, and I like the revised deflector. The only problems I have are the primary hull feels a little too vertically squashed, and I think the nacelles look better when they are at the original height, so that they are not in line with the saucer (having them like this makes the ship less of an interesting overall shape, and conceals the nacelles a little too much). Great work though, and I really enjoyed the animation.

I repeat, the speed of impact when joining up would have meant damage, injuries, and possibly, loss of lives. The Warp-engined section should have slowed down at the end to minimize/negate any kind of impact damage.

@TheAksleepy
@TheAksleepy 5 жыл бұрын
As a truck driver yes and no. With the points of hook up on this there is no twisting or turning or moving. With a semi it's 1 pin that fits into a pivot plate. This is more like a bridge deck lock point.

Yes, as I recall from "Encounter at Farpoint" the two sections would maneuver into close proximity, then the docking latches would rise from the drive section to engage their corresponding sockets in the saucer, lock on and retract to draw the two together tightly with a satisfying clank, as opposed to the harsh crash heard here.
@lkimberly2064
@lkimberly2064 5 жыл бұрын
The socket per se that the secondary hull fits into the primary hull beyween the impulse thrusters does look a bit deep, but that could be just spatial rendering..
