Thanks for the comments, all. About being "stuck" at a pizza parlor. The nice thing about playing there is that there's a built-in crowd--people come whether we're there or not. I like not having to drum up an audience for every gig, like we would if we were playing at most other venues. Also, I've been playing there for 16 years, so it's a hard habit to break. True, some crowds aren't as vocal as we'd like, but we're soooo used to that now, it's just kinda funny to us.

You should come to Brazil, our crowd is a proud ♥ Bars, restaurants, pizzas, whatever, we always sing a long with who's playing ;) That's one of things that our song with Queen is LOVE OF MY LIFE (Rock in Rio 1985, u will have goosebumps). In fact, me and my husband already find your channel and we are in love with your job!

Something that's under-rated is how great Mike is on the guitar. His voice is obviously tremendous, but I'm not sure people realize how great he is on guitar.

I love the vocals, but what I appreciate most about this rendition is Mike's superb rhythm guitar. He's not just playing chords -- he's using the different strumming patterns to add color to the song. It's nuanced and not overdone. Brilliant!

The other cool thing besides doing justice to all these covers is you're opening the eyes and ears to the youngsters who may not have experienced the music of our generation. A wise man once said `` Your stuff sounds like Beethoven to me compared to most of the crap that's played today``………………… That wise man was my 82 year old father.

+Caiomario76 Mario I can see why you thought it was a ninth, but it isn't in this case. F# IS the second (and ninth) of E Major. There is a problem though. E isn't the key of this song, F# is. He plays F# for 30 seconds straight at the beginning which centres the tonic pretty strongly and keeps landing on F# for resolution during the song. It took me a little while to realise what exactly was going on with the chords (which make no sense from a strict diatonic harmony standpoint). It really makes more sense to look at the chords as if your in F# minor then make all the chords major. E is then the seventh, which is sounds really good in minor harmony going to and from the root, even, and sometimes especially, if you make it a major. Just making every chord a major is a really lazy way of writing, and screws any notion of diatonic harmony, but it still creates a contour which you can unconsciously follow and works. Very folk. Rule #1: If it sounds good, it is good.

Particularly impressive (and musical) is the way they realise which voice has the melodic line and the other one ducks out; here, most of the lead is actually the lower part (Hall), so Masse sings a bit quieter :) That takes REAL musical sensitivity.

Alice W. Gold X3 ... I get the same feeling with every one of their performances too. These guys are great, but you can tell they do it because they truly enjoy it ... not just for fame and fortune so I'm sure they're used to the lack of enthusiasm. The plus is they sound like seasoned pros in every vid I've watched, they shared them with us and most of us get more enjoyment from them then any crowd at the Pie ever showed!

@pacduckproductions Yeah, I know he plays it capo'ed on the 2nd fret. I actually learned it like this and prefer it. I like being able to go down to that open E leading into the chorus.
