@@jteddy11 160 hp with the lid on and 177hp with the restricting lid off. It also gained power all the way so that lid is to tight against the throttle bodys. Like Kevin said about making a custom airbox with a taller filter and still use the original airbox lid so it looks original sounds like a good idea. 17 horsepower and more torque all the way is a big win when you have so little power from the beginning.

A point of interest I drove one for my boss about 40 years ago and I can tell you first the engine was not as smooth, also if you drove it through a city you needed new plugs when you got through. My boss sent me to a local race shop to have his one tuned, they had a nightmare with it but on picking it up it was superb but a month later it was back there for a complete refresh plugs points carb work he ended up selling it to get a Porsche that needed nothing for a year at a time.

@@elesjuanThe Honda V6 from the NSX would fit in the 308 just fine. I am no expert on Honda engines but I assume that you could soup up that V6 to give at least 350/400 bhp. Then you could surprise plenty of folks with your 308 with some muscle.

A restomod on a Ferrari 308, would be great today, but would be near on 'valueless' in 4 to 5 years time. I have witnessed a restomod on a Alfa Romeo Montreal where it had been fitted with a Holden 5 litre V8 (similar to a Chevy V8) - which seemed like a good idea at the time. However it's current intrinsic value is equivalent to the value of the body parts - i.e. nearer to a quarter, or probably less, than the value of an original car. Having said that, if one has the money to burn - then by all means proceed with a Ferrari restomod. If I wanted a fast car in this 'traffic jammed world' that is reliable, fun to drive, relatively inexpensive to run, and could be 'turbo modified' to yield more power - I would choose a Honda S2000.
@elesjuan
@elesjuan Жыл бұрын
@@josebrown5961 you're right, that engine would fit in a 308, but idk many people who have an nsx motor laying around in their garage given thats a fairly rare car, and a rather expensive engine. Yeah, you could get an oddysey/accord/tl v6, but if I'm putting in the effort of swapping out a v8 for another engine, why not go for the gold standard of cheap, readily available, reliable power? On the flip side, a gm 4.8 or 5.3 were made by literal boat loads and can be had from pick and pull yards for a cool C-note. Add a couple hundred dollars in components along with a Chinese turbo, on 7psi you've got a near bulletproof 500whp power plant with just as much torque. Not to mention, I already have a complete low mile L33 on a stand in my garage, which was originally going in my Miata, waiting for something in a little better condition worthy of the investment.

The 308, 328, 348, 355 are so elegant and classy. From 2003-2005 I was a Tech at a used Ferrari shop, and at that time 308's had hit rock bottom in the market, you could pick up a 308 for in the 20K range and we had a constant stream of work of people buying 308's and bringing them in to be refreshed. I had the cash back them but was a little under and regret not buying one because now prices have soared, its difficult to find one under $50k.

That alternator idea possibly comes from the Porsche 928 world. It was discovered that with a few washers added, the Bosch alternator from an '88 Chevy Camaro V6 will fit perfectly on a Porsche 928, at a far cheaper price and much easier availability. And it really cannot be told from an inspection that it is not an original part....

That's a cool car, but if it were MINE I would replace the carpet with the same color. Then I would have the dashboard retanned to match the carpet, to include the black swoop on the door. I would leave the pod black. The black seats with the black speakers are a nice touch, but I would also get black Ferrari carpeted floor mats. You've got to fix that front air dam! I'm sure it is in the works. Great video!

Mrs. Magnum PI, I love how your dash vents operate. Seriously, the Holley EFI has some advantages. Easy to use software for one, but some disadvantages as well such as poor personal support for technical questions, you generally get very little one on one and have to resort to questions on a forum. But the biggest disadvantage to me is it’s lack of compatibility with modern CAN-BUS systems to allow its use with recent modern car electronics such as Porshe body computers to allow use of their guages, traction control etc…Several of its smaller competitors such as Pro EFI, and the British Emerald EFI to name just two have that compatibility. At least Holley could have a add on patch to allow it. Prices are generally comparable and one on one support is generally better. Ask the little lady to keep it between the ditches.

When you get the evaporator blower installed. Please do voltage drop tests from the positive battery to the positive blower connection on high. Variation pn the same test. Positive alternator output to the evaporator fan positive. At idle the battery has higher voltage. Engine above 1200 rpm the alternator has more current. Same test on the negative blower on high. You may want to install a relay that on hot days you can bypass the blower resistor and fan switch. When i reduced the voltage drop on that efi 2v countach it cured the cool factor where the doors had to be opened at stop signs not for coolness but to let the hot air out. Since you are out in the hot center of the country. Getting as much cool air is needed.

That 308 has had quite a rough journey in its 121,000 miles - its probably getting the best care of its life under your ownership. Is the exhaust smoke from stem seals or piston rings? The Holley system is pretty simple, they make a nice driving fuel injection setup for normal street driving. Have you considered black carpeting including the lower door trim? Ferraristas may cringe at Ms. Wizard's 308, but this is a much better fate than being broken up for spares. I know that Holley provided the fuel injection, but I hope you get rid of the big Holley sticker meant to attract teenagers.

Love to see the 308 back up and running! Saw one small detail in the enginebay though, on top of the gearbox, under the oilfiltre, there should be a small plate preventing bolts and all sorts of stuff falling down the gearbox, Ive been there and it aint fun I'll tell you.
