I thought it was cool that they changed the lyrics to No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn in later years. Instead of "MCA's in the back 'cause he's skeezing with a whore", they said "MCA's in the back with the mahjong board." It doesn't diss anyone and it's a better lyric anyway.

There's a clip out there of Adrock in 99/00 getting up to get an award and he goes on about how women need to be better protected at festivals and calls out artists and promoters trying to downplay a whole bunch of rapes that happened at woodstock 99.

Growth is hopefully a constant state, and all members of the Beastie Boys have gone on record saying that they really wanted to change because they didn't like the people they were after that first record. So you get these songs on ill communication which, shows them growing as humans. Its beautiful

They really started to evolve when Check Your Head came out. I got see them play with Sonic Youth on that tour in 11th grade. It's interesting and entertaining to see such a B-Boys revival with all these reaction videos. Definitely stands up to the test of time which shouldn't surprise me.....

The Beastie Boys grew up. They grew as people. It was cool to watch. I was there when LTI came out, and it was exactly what I wanted in my early teens. I grew up and lost interest. They created Paul's Boutique and I was not smart enough to pay attention. Then they came out with Check Your Head in '92 and it was just everything I needed. But by that time they were very different people and I dug it.

This song features a sample from jazz flutist Jeremy Steig's "Howlin' For Judy", which provides the main instrumental part of the song. This song was used in Shrek Forever during the pied piper scene DJ Hurricane is in this video he helped write the song

I saw them right after this album dropped in Oakland CA. DJ Hurricane ripped it up with them. Best concert ever. Would have liked to see them with Mixmaster Mike, but missed it.

Hurricane was the DJ for the live events. He was an un-official member of the group. He eventually got his own deal with Def Jam as a solo artist. In the studio, Adrock and MCA did all the crate digging and scratching. Mix Master Mike auditioned to be the their DJ after he sent a demo of him scratching thru a Guitar effects pedal to show his creativity. They were sold immediately.

I love that you're going through all these beastie boys tracks..and I really dug the Bob Dylan selection a few days earlier..but I want to touch on this channel as a whole for a second..listening and watching..it's felt like some of the more realist reaction videos I've heard..there is an excellent variety of music..and there is a lot of great personality put into it..new subscriber! Keep on keeping on!

There's one aspect of the Beastie Boys you haven't gotten into yet: they were a killer LATIN band, look up songs like "Sabrosa", "Futterman's rule" and "Something's got to give" As a band, MCA was the Bass Player, Adrock was the guitar player and Mike D the drummer.
