Wow! What an undiscovered gem of a work! This work deserves a much higher profile.

Not the greatest fan of violin concertos but the Walton is something else, absolutely love it😊

And who is the soloist, I might ask?

Good question - I am grateful for the upload but I wish details of the performers were always given. IMO the best violin concerto ever, I'm not a great lover of this medium but this work always strikes me as something very special.

It's Tasmin Little and Andrew Litton with the Bournemouth Symphony :)

So good to read someone else saying this. I'm surprised the Walton is not played with the same frequency as the Mendellsohn, Bruch and Sibelius. A piece of such intensity, complex yet lyrical, a wonderful challenge for the virtuoso - ably matched here by Tasmin Little. I love Walton's stuff, even when it occasionally seems a tad...frivolous. No chance of that here. An extraordinary, deeply human work..
