running these engines a little rich for break in helps clean out the engines. last summer i tested all these break in theories out and i found that letting the car idle for a tank at around 200f then starting to drive it around in a semi rich state seemed to work the best. now i was doing this on a dynamite mach 2 .21 red head but the principles seem the same. i do agree with you in that the engines do not have to be overly rich to the point the engines dont want to rev-

out but they cant be full race tune running 220 - 260 all the time. these engines out of the box just are not meant for that. a safe bet would be doing maybe 5 or 6 tanks of fairly rich state at 170-210f (with the help of an heater like a competition heat or something) then on race tune you can get her up to the 220 for the next litre or so. this all being said, there is no proper way to break in an engine. what you do can be very different then what i do. doesnt mean you or i am wrong.

First of all in braking process you dont tuch the stadar settings. For novarrossi first of all warm up with a heating machine like one you have in your tool box.Secondly we wait until the engine with the stadar settings burn 3 tanks o fuel with much oil. After that we use a 16% fuel for 1 or 2 tanks in order to clean the engine from the oil.And then we give him throtle like you are doing now!At 4 or 5 depends on the motor..!!Thats all rember them when you buy a new engine!

It has to be rich in break in process

i disagree with the wet way of running in an engine ( yes excess fuel cleans the small particles from the engine) but temperature has to be uniform for the engine to run properly when you do the wet method as the fuel enters the engine it naturally cools it, putting a long story short you have the top of the piston hot and the bottom of the conrod & piston cold! race engines esp novarossi in my opinion do not need a wet run in as have already been monitored through the production process

Why do you skip that part where you acctualy starts the engine!

You obvesly dont know what you are doing. You can not break in an engine with idle power. The right method is three tanks with full throttle, and reduce the rpm with main needle. Engine should have 80-90 degrees celcius on glowplug, after each tank let engine cool down. When you are done with the three tanks, put the car on track and drive it as rich as you can without wearing out your clutch. Drive it for three tanks and let it cool down after evry tank. Now you can start tuning your engine.
