I’ve gotten so many magic square figures lately. They’re all phenomenal with incredible articulation but I haven’t attempted a transformation cause I’m not brave enough. I just bought legacy motor master and it feels sooooooo nice to have a easy transformation again.

Yeah essentially. It's the cleanest looking motormaster I've seen (I mean that in a metaphorical sense, not a literal one). Don't mind stylised deviations or characters with the same name that share no resemblance, but this is lush

@@DrLockdown I find that the transformation feels rather smooth. I wasn't afraid of breaking anything the first time I went through the process, so make of that what you will! I currently have Light of Victory on the way, as well as Detective and Blues and I hear mixed opinions on how he transforms. I suppose I'll have to wait and see how that goes for me. I've seen how he transforms, and after handling a legends figure myself now, I don't think it should be too bad. Or I hope so, because I bought him because he looked like a lot of fun and I need a Prime in this scale now! In general, I hear a lot of people refer to MS's later figures as part of their "2.0 phase." I'm not sure if people are talking about purely cartoon accuracy or smoother engineering. Since Ironhide felt like the antithesis to what I heard about their older figures I'd be inclined to believe it, but again, I don't have the experience to say for myself. I just hope you enjoy it as much as I do. And if not, ah well. One thing to be wary of when transforming Ken, however; the back panels on one side of the van mode may not line up properly. But other than that the rest of the process feels smooth and the van has no issues staying together. It's also heavily cartoon-inspired in terms of its shape, rather than going for the look of the real thing or the original toy.

For me, the trailer was worth it in plastic quantity, but not play value. I think they could've improved it without altering the price. As such, legacy motormaster is held to that same standard, least on my end. And it's cool. Not going off at me at all. Everyone has different stances on this stuff none are less valid

I think he's fantastic. Hollowness on the legs is a little unfortunate, but it makes sense given the proportions on the train mode. The detail is phenomenal, and they seem to have used really dense and solid clear plastic: not that cheap rubbish SS86 jazz used.

Not on mine. Feet panels are a bit dumb, but everything else is fine

They were not. Those are my friend's. I don't have shelving for my collection. Aside from moving house, I prefer to appreciate my figures by filming them.

Nah I get it. If you're unable to get a few things now, don't stress too much. Back-collecting is a thing. You can always seek them out at a later date.

@@DrLockdown Yea that’s true, I sometimes have a hard time doing that with the whole figure finally out hype getting into buying figures I might’ve not been big on Though I can practice on more so buying what I like to have and sell off stuff that aren’t even worth displaying

I'm okay with it just being a partsforming piece that does nothing as well, although I'll get more into it next week. The drill thing is actually a throwback to the g1 toy. The kibble used to be able to do that as well.

Oh cool callback on that front then. And yeah, I can see the angle of a one-use whole piece as just a lot of smaller loose paraphernalia condensed into one part. Will look forward to next week

The toy look had the cars backwards too though. You saw the undersides of them. The toon just simplified that look, and made it look like the trailer.

@@DrLockdown oh no I just phrased that badly, I mean to do the cars on the fronts of the shins look like how the magic square figure does/can. I personally don’t care but a lot of people do so I figured it’d be one of those things that someone’s bound to make at some point instead of a slew of other, probsbly cooler stuff

Ah. Yeah I cover it in the next episode, but that 'cars on the front' thing wasn't really common until IDW. It is a cooler aesthetic though. Reckon DNA will tackle it. They always have their finger on the pulse with their upgrade kits.

Legacy dragstrip's brilliance doesn't lie in the design, but rather the engineering. He's so fun.

The Chromedome mould is a good one. CW dead end had a great transformation. Dead end just continues it. As for motormaster, not sure. I'll check this afternoon. Depends on how the panels work at the back.

This transformation mostly is chunks; just smaller ones. Way better than the panelly nightmare that was ragnar

@@DrLockdown yeah re watching it, chucks but smaller. Just at legends scale my perspective is as screwy since I do have a lot more voyager and leaders than anything else. Also having to deal with tiny ass panels at that scale-....I'd rather be under the enemy scrotum than deal with ranger

I hate the lack of smokestacks, and worse is the reason why it was done. The original toy doesn't have smokestacks, and the cartoon model based on the toy.. Also has no smokestacks. They managed to skip out on the entire truck having smokestacks in the show, G1 toy, and now Legacy and it's terrible. They keep doing G1 accuracy at the expense of the alt mode, Blitzwing was hit with this too. It's endlessly annoying. BUT on the bright side, there's a bunch of ways that an upgrade kit could make use of tabs on the chest. If any third party wants to make a gun for him that turns into the smokestacks, it's not hard at all. Just.. one of them has to actually put in the effort to do it.

@@DrLockdown Tarantulas wasn't supposed to be available in the UK until Christmas, but Zavvi had a few in stock. I bought mine to prepare for my upcoming Halloween review. I still have the original Transmetal Tarantulas from '98 as a size comparison.

@@DrLockdown yeah, just a few minor flakes here and there. You should see the condition of my Rampage, he's much worse. No gun, missiles, antennae or crab legs, most of the chrome is missing...

It'll happen eventually. I did a review ages ago, so it's on the list for a remake. It's just patrons have voted for other things.

It was well shot, but that's really the only good part. There aren't any characters; only archetypes. Story arcs don't happen; the start and end of arcs occur, but there's no development in the middle. Half the film is a tom cruise ego trip and the other is a propaganda piece for the American Navy. It's not a film that makes me angry, but Jesus it was boring...

@@DrLockdown I disagree. The important character arc which was maverick's was well executed and complete. Also the movie was very exhilarating and literally kept me on the end of my seat in that last act. I also cannot believe this is propaganda as when I walked out the last thing I ever wanted to do in life was join the navy.
