and check out the rowdy and unfiltered alter ego "Johnny Nitrous" on my other channel:

...definitely NOT for the easily offended and I cover other topics besides saws...
Thanks for watching!!!

Check out the last few minutes if you are into race saws and really high end mods... I found a channel (link in description) and he's showing some real "behind the scene" mods and especially in the race saw world that is really secretive... its hands down top 2 or 3 favorite channels of mine 💯

Glad you found Brennan. He's a SUPER humbled young man. Just shows what he's going to do and if it doesn't work, he finds a way then explains what he did. Super cool cat, man of very little words. Just let's his saws do all the talking.

I like chainsaws but live in Florida, don't need one. Didn't stop me from buying a 372 cologne saw and modifying it myself. So when I cut down a tree that was interfering with my driveway I saved most of it to test my saws on. Man I just can't sharpen a chain! This friggin fine dust that coats everything and sticks like glue and my chain is dull once again. Come to find out( plant id app, highly recommend) the tree I had cut down was a southern live oak. Hardest tree in North America(apparently)Not bad when it's green but once its dry its rates 2680 janka. For reference black locust is 1700 janka. Janka. Something else I learned.

Not long ago, i had a clutch issue, so bad the chain would even stop running with no load.. the issue was the chain oil and saw dust, that had got in and basically coated the entire clutch surface with a slippery coating that didnt let you cut anything basically. The best fix was metal drill brushes running very fast, with some brake cleaner, and a good cleanup behind the clutch. Never had an issue ever since, but everyone has to keep their saws clean and well maintained.

Very easy to "stuff" a saw with the three point dawgs and overwork the clutch. They give you a ton of leverage that needs some finesse in hardwood. Brennan is a hell of a machinist and fabricator! Another thing he shared in a recent video is his race chain which is also top secret stuff.
@johnscustomsaws
@johnscustomsaws 2 жыл бұрын
i agree... you can glaze a clutch real fast especially with the leverage... its actually part of the reason Stihl doesnt send their saws out with the bigger dogs only on the R models because that is their concern... this was a weird one i have seen thousands of clutch issues and its usually easier to diagnose... i wish i had a picture of the clutch that failed it was purple towards the center more than the outside and it killed the springs... but the drum was pretty much undamaged... and yes Brennan is a stud!!! I call it a win any time i learn something and its like a home run derby when he puts out a video

LMAO!! John you are silly SOB! I appreciate you sharing the knowledge you do and certainly enjoy the humorous intermissions. I grew up around old school rural folks. Ya dint have to wonder where ya stood with them because it came straight at ya. You're much the same although a bit more colorful. I have a 462 and 461. I plan to have one of the two ported for pulling up to a 36" b&c. I'm leaning towards the 461 for this purpose but If I'm looking at the wrong saw tell me. Keep the vids comin!

portable lathe.........use a heavy 1/2" chuck /drill with a forward reverse switch with a lock button for the trigger . put it in a vise and carefully tighten it in place somehow then install the piece to be shaved /ground down in the chuck and start the drill in the correct direction. then take your portable angle grinder with the correct abrasive for the job and start cutting in the opposite direction of the rotation of the drill and shazam a perfectly concentric work piece completed and ready to use and if you need a certain finish on the metal just change the abrasive on the angle grinder. you can always use a drill press that have a larger chuck or make a custom piece holder for it since the rotation of the drill/tool holder is rotating concentrically the hand held angle grinder is all you need to do the job with abrasives and gotta wear eye protection and other necessary protection stuff. 😳i discovered this method 25 years ago while doing a field fabrication of my own design. now i am going to check out my chainsaw after seeing how its done😊

I would like to ask if any stihl saw has a sensor or some failsafe that doesnt allow the saw to start withour bar oil in it. I was with a friend, and he was trying to start a 2007 ms210 that had been sitting in his garage for abt 2 years. He said i did like 30 pulls and nothing, spark plug is good, gas is full, i dont know whats wrong. I go for a few pulls and find the saw really light, open the oil cap and see no bar oil.. so we fill it up, and on the first pull it starts up perfectly. Im not sure if there is anything between the oil line and the pump trying to prevent damage to the saw, but it was really weird..

Great video! I have a question, I have an MS 461 and I'm looking to get a smaller saw, thinking either a 400, 362, or 261. Any suggestions on which I get and why?

my 2 cents is the cause is the oversized bar... those saws are designed for up to 28 inch and dealer says warranty is gone if you go bigger.
@94SexyStang
@94SexyStang Жыл бұрын
that's bullshit, they Come with 28" bar, it's ridiculous to think a couple inch difference will destroy a saw.

One of the worst things you can do for your clutch is crank it with the brake on and let it fast idle. It's smoking your clutch when you do.
