Everything looked really good (except the raw pancetta) 😳. The eggs Benedict looked particularly good to me because they actually TOASTED the English muffin. Another cruise line (which shall remain nameless) never toasts the muffin, and it’s so disappointing. And I laughed when I saw the Walmart brand lactose free milk on the buffet. We have considered an MSC cruise (mostly for the price point) but haven’t booked yet because of bad reviews. I know some people are just hard to please but there are a disproportionately large number of negative reviews for MSC. Maybe we’ll take a chance one day. I respect your opinions and would LOVE to know what you thought of your overall cruise experience on the Meraviglia . Thanks for the great video!!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Sally! 😊 You saw some things that we didn't notice! This was a fun cruise overall and had much better food than expected (vs our last MSC cruise 6-7 years ago). There were some cons which I'll get into in an upcoming video. But yeah some of the cruise fares out there were looking unreasonable, but MSC delivered good value.

I really like the plain omelet @3:24 . I think I would enjoy stuffing it with whatever I enjoy. And the Farmer's Potatoes right next to those would have to go on my plate too. Chicken Waffle Casselrole? Wow, that blows my mind. I'd have to try that. But the Hot banana granola bread pudding looks like an exceptional treat! Loving the jam, honey and marmalade dispensers @5:04 . Great idea. I really like the brunch menu. It looks fantastic. A $5 fee for extra dishes ordered (except breakfast and brunch)??? Wow. I mean, $5 is nothing these days... But to tack on any level of additional charge for extra food kind of blows me away. One of the special things about cruising has always been the *INDULGENCE FACTOR.* One of the best parts of cruising is packing on 5 to 10 pounds of extra weight by the end of your cruise! I get why they do that though. Food is expensive, and cruise lines want to do whatever they can to eliminate waste. I've seen people order multiple entrees, and only take a few bites of each one and then walk away with a table full of mostly full plates. Huge waste. Indulgence is one thing, but people shouldn't be doing that. If an entree or dessert is especially tasty, I will order a second of either, but definitely no more than that. If you make things more expensive for the cruise line by abusing the system, then they start making silly rules like this in order to cut down on waste. Ruins it for everyone.

Yeah they had some interesting dishes for sure. Didn't get to try the Chicken Waffle Casserole, but apparently guests were digging it. We didn't like that $5 extra entree fee for dinner either, but for a 7 day cruise we figured it's not too bad to order 1 extra every dinner. Comes out to $35 extra is acceptable considering it was a very reasonable fare. Thankfully that fee didn't apply for the brunch or port day MDR breakfast. Thanks for the comment Scott! 😊

They do offer some absolute best price deals, so not so bad considering. There is always YCL for gourmet everything included. This ship is gorgeous..I think they have the most beautiful ships of all.

Do realize that you can always have an entree in the MDR and follow up with seconds in the buffet where there will be no charge.

@@jlawrence0181 In theory- one issue is that unless you're in a suite or Yacht Club they will default you to the late seating, so unless guests in that situation are willing to check out the buffet first before the MDR, they might not be able to make the buffet before it closes for dinner. We indicated on the booking that we wanted early seating, but they gave us the late one, but we were able to convince the host to change it for us, but he made it seemed like it's rare to be able to make that change, as the ship was jam packed/sold out.

They're pretty fast with the omelets, so you usually don't have to wait more than a few minutes. Agree with you about their brunch with an exciting international menu and good food!

overall, that looks a bit better than a Carnival breakfast buffet--although I do love Blue Iguana's juevos rancheros. I'm curious to see your reviews of the rest of the food. MSC should put some effort into spreading out the crowds (with specialized food places in different areas).

We thought the breakfast buffet was better than Carnival as well- a lot more selection and quality. Stay tuned for more to come! 🙂 Yup agree with you 100%- MSC, at least for this ship, needs to spread guests out better like Royal Caribbean or Carnival. The crowd and noise at the buffet and the main dining at times got pretty extreme lol.

Great video. I think that the food selection in both venues beats the other large cruise lines and it all looks pretty good. How is the coffee in the MDR/buffet?

Thanks JL! 😊 I'd say the coffee tasted stronger than average. And these guys were one of the few that kept re-stocking the popular tea bags at the buffet.

I noticed the presentation seemed a bit sloppier than other cruise lines, but the options didn't appear bad to me. If appearance is overlooked, what were your thoughts on the taste and variety of the food on MSC? Would you rate it far below the other mass cruise lines as most reviews suggest?

We thought the food quality was very competitive with the other major lines, and you may agree after watching our upcoming videos. That wasn't the case when we were on the MSC Divina years ago. MSC actually did some other things better, but there were some cons too which I'll go more in detail in an upcoming video.

I thought the food looked really good. Sometimes it looks so messy..but i guess if a lot of people digging into it, it would look like that. The noise to me was really loud..thank you for muting it. I love your channel.

Can you talk more about the $5 surcharge? Is it just on additional entrees or any category which you might order more than 1?

Sure- it's only for DINNER at the main dining restaurant, and only applies to main entrees.

@@TravelTouristVideos he’s still got some more growing years. Guys don’t stop growing until their early 20’s. My grandson shot up to 6’3” at 21. You’re going to be looking up to him before you know it. Girls tend to reach their full height by 15 usually. I’m short at 5’ 1”. I’m shrinking with age unfortunately.
