MSFS 2020 | LGA Park Visual 31 | MD-82 Fly the Maddog

Ай бұрынFlying the Park Visual RWY 31 at LGA in the MD-82. Winds were 310/09G17, which made the approach turn a bit challenging. Probably not my greatest flying.
There's additionally a TCAS RA from what I can only assume is someone learning how to fly the PMDG B77W and blundering across the approach path.

Yeah, especially annoying since I had expected JFK approach to be logged on, which would mean any JFK arrivals should have been crossing over that area at about 13,000. I didn't check at the time, but I guess JFK had signed off and this guy just decided "screw it I'm going for a downwind" (or worse was trying to land with a 17 knot tailwind on the 13s)

This is for the MD-82 but all the other planes in MSFS as well. How do you know how quickly to climb/descend when hand flying? And also how fast you are descending at any given point. Thank you so much and great vid!

Couple of easy answers... 1) A 3° glidepath is 318 ft/NM, which is about 742 ft/min at this approach speed. Obviously, you gotta adjust for wind, etc. 2) The approach plate for the RNAV to this runway has check altitudes to back up what you're seeing 3) Look out the window and fly the plane!

by looking at your instruments? climb/descents are part of early stage flight planning. this person is on a visual approach, so the standard 742/m if its a 3d path. but you would look at the CHART for that approach
