Continuing with my Carenado review series today we will fly and review the Cessna 170B. Taking a look at two new handcrafted airports for World Update 12. Taking off at Milford Sound, NZMF, and heading up to Quintin Lodge, T004, for a challenging grass strip landing.

I am enjoying your videos. I know that some hard-core flight simmers poo-poo the carenado planes, but I do enjoy and fly some of them and enjoy them. There is a place for both kinds of flying; that is the carenado level of realism and the more hard core stuff as well. Happy flying my msfs friend.

Thanks! I couldn't agree more with you about Carenado. I find them to be great and while not in depth as some more expensive, MUCH more, they fly great, sound good, and look amazing! Thanks for watching!!

This is by far one of my favorite aircraft. The view over the nose is unbelievable. To open the windows in flight actually brings the sound of the engines into the cockpit. I really love this simplistic design and the handling characteristics are really good in short takeoff and landing situation. Nice video, and I’m holding off getting this update because I love Matt Cook and Glenn Tanner the package with the best hangersAnd mechanics working in the hanger. Keep up the good work kudos!

This is another of my favorite Carenado aircraft. The interior reminds me so much of my uncle's old 1963 Cessna 172 with the white yokes and big white throttle ball. Man we flew that thing everywhere! I fly this plane a lot in the sim and I've really enjoyed it. You can land and takeoff in some pretty tight areas with it and its great for site seeing. Another nice video! Thanks!

Thanks! That is so cool you got to fly in an older 172 with your uncle. This era definitely has the best styling!

@@sprocketsimulations Yeah those were the days. I'm an old man now and I don't get to do any real flying anymore due to health. This sim is really good for me. I wish we had this back when I was getting my flight training. What a great tool for learning! Especially with the instrumentation. Students really have an advantage these days.

I’m in the same boat. Trained in a 172 years ago but now health issues sort of stopped all that. I have been using MSFS since the late 80s and while it is not the real thing it is still so much fun!! I spoke to an instructor not that long ago that mentioned they can always tell when a student has a lot of sim time due to the fact that they are looking at the instruments way more than looking outside and have to break that habit. But like you said comes in super handy when going for your instrument rating.

I love this one. I would love more of these like a Bellanca, tri- Pacer.

I fly this one often, but I learned something new! I didn't know you could remove the wheel pants. I usually fly the tundra tire version. It's a good looking, simple aircraft. I use it often for bush flights or short hops. I especially like this livery.

Those wheel pants are modeled so well it is almost a shame for taking them off, but it is nice to still do some milder strips without the tundra tires. Thanks so much for watching.

I'd vote for this being the best Carenado plane as well. As far as flying around or over mountains goes, i wouldn't feel as confident as in a Kitfox but as you say, it's a good all-rounder
@sprocketsimulations

Absolutely! While you can get into some pretty remote places it makes it hard to slow down on steep approaches or tighter tuns with stall speed around 60.

Was that a POH for a Delorean? 88 mph… Nice video! The 170B is a great addon! I really like all of my Carenado planes in MSFS. They are excellent for the cost

HAHA! I honestly almost mentioned that it must have been designed by DeLorean! Thanks for watching!

That's a crazy screaming approach. So is that a replay feature in the sim you're using to view your landings? Good job on your videos.

It is a 3rd party app called Flight Control Reply, the in-game one is not stable or intuitive. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for they vídeo. I love this plane but it is difficult for land to me. It would help a tail drriggers lesson with diferent techniques. 2 o 3 point landings

kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zr-lediktLzQipc.html I have one! The techniques will be the same for 3 point landings but you would only do those on soft short fields. For those just hold it up above the field and let it plop down on all three.

And the accusation used to be that while they were inch-perfectly well-modelled that all Carenados fly alike. So, are we now saying that rubicon has been crossed by this developer??
@sprocketsimulations
@sprocketsimulations Жыл бұрын
I would say so yes. I can definitely jump into this and then a 182 or a Seneca and the model drastically different.

The approach in real life must be done over the river at low level, and then you turn right on final, not the way you do, and the name is Quintin Lodge, not Quinton.
@sprocketsimulations
@sprocketsimulations Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the correction. I tried coming in that way as I figured it would be the actual approach but either my skills are not up to the task or the width of the runway is modeled too narrow. With the foliage it is barely the width of those little 170’s wingspan. Looking at some pictures it seems it is more of a dirt strip and cleared out more on the each side. Have you been there?
