My standards must be poor, cause I'd consider that webcam video/audio more than adequate for it's purpose. Every time a reviewer warns of bad cameras, I expect footage like it was shot on an old, original Motorola RAZR from 2004...But then I get relatively clear 1080p, solid FPS with no hiccups, no nasty contrast issues, and clear audio. 🤷‍♂️

Had this one for a little bit and it's worked great for me so far. Couldn't go with an AMD option as I need the thunderbolt for work. For sure agree with you on the battery life though. In my case it's plugged in all the time but wouldn't want it away from a wall socket for long

I got the GP75 Leopard and while older, it has an 8 core CPU and a RTX 2070 Super. It does more and it was easier than buying a new GPU for my desktop at the time and sadly still cheaper since I would have had to upgrade my CPU too to fully push a new GPU. In my opinion, the GP75 Leopard is still the better choice.

This is one of the laptops that suffered the Tiger Lake H35 treatment. Intel was so desperate to get a stop-gap solution out before Tiger Lake H and we end up with basically overclocked U-series chips in otherwise decent laptop chassis

At that price it's really hard not to consider the ASUS ROGs like you mentioned! I think if I were in the market for one of these I would probably look at the Blade 15 and just spend the extra.

Excellent video man! I've had the 15M for a few months now and everything in this video has justified my uncertainty with owning this laptop. One major problem I've encountered is Freezing. Whether I'm gaming, working VFX, or simply browsing Chrome or moving files. My M15 simply freezes. Programs continue to run (audio plays as normal), but the mouse and keyboard are nonfunctional. I was watching your video just now and the screen froze lol I could still hear your commentary though. EDIT: I found a fix to the freezing problem :) Just a Consumer's Comments: Performs well with most games in my library (most demanding game so far is Resident Evil 3). PlayStation Now streaming isn't bad (USB-Ethernet adapter solved that). Unreal Engine works well, but rendering is a nightmare (I save my projects and move them to my Desktop instead). FL Studio and Reaper work just fine. Use a cooling pad of some sort. I know it's not a solution for some, but Temp stays below 70 degrees C on peak performance :) Battery capacity is, in fact, trash. Treasure to some. Depending on one's settings, performance can stutter at 50% life. 4 months in and Freezing has become an issue. C'mon mann. My goal at the time was a good looking laptop with good performance. Bought the M15 in payments. I should start crying now knowing I could've spent half the price on another good laptop, but I'm a Man. *sheds manly tear*

Apologies for the delay, here is my fix. Go to Control Panel> Hardware and Sound> Power Options> Edit Plan Settings. (or type "power plan" in Start search bar) Once there, click "Change Advanced Power Settings". In the list of options that appear, choose "Processor Power Management". It is here you will see your "Minimum" and "Maximum processor state", each with their own sub-options. Change the sub-options to your Maximum processor state to anything below 100%. (I changed mine to 95, but recently to 90 for good health) Do that again with the sub-options to your Minimum processor state, preferably anything below what you placed as your Maximum percentage. If you like, you can just change the top setting that is [Active]. For anything below High Performance, only change the Maximum processor state sub-options to anything below 100. User's preference. Now apply the changes, let your M15 get comfortable permanently running these changes and you should be set... Unless you don't have these settings in your Advanced Power Settings list (like I did). In that case, you're gonna have to do a couple internet searches. I found a forum, top link of the page when I searched "add minimum processor state". I then searched for add maximum. Same forum. I believe it was OPTION TWO (scroll about halfway down the forum) that gave me the registry files I needed. Correctly set those up on your M15 and the settings above should now appear in your Advanced Power Settings list. I suppose the reason for my M15 freezing is because both my Minimum and Maximum processor state settings were set to 100%. No matter the activity, my M15 was always running at peak performance. After the changes, it does perform better for long-term heavy activities. Really just in general overall. :)

I do like the msi laptop's nahimic software... Before RTX voice i was using that nahimic's static noise supression... laptops mic does not take any fan noise any vacume cleaner noise from the room but takes my voice clearly... Static noise supression also works with mic you plug but needs to be high quality or smth like that ...

@@adikgaming7544 a 3060 and a 3300x or I3 is a nicely balanced 1080p Ultra gaming rig. I wouldn't even consider 6 cores for less than a 3070 and only if it was for max fps shooters at 1080p med/low.

Virtually every time a tech reviewer complains about the webcam, I come away impressed. 🤷‍♂️ I've even seen some "This is great/this is trash" comparisons, and I only see marginal differences. Apparently I'm not picky.

Does anyone know where i can find a replacement battery for this laptop ive looked for one for a while with no luck. not sure if every battery in the stealth category will fit in the laptop or be the correct battery in general. Unfortunately with HP gaming laptops you can't be able to change the fan curve into having a "turbo mode" or even crank the fans at max....And their "HP Cool Sense" will make it much worse than actually helping if you had turned it on while trying to game. Since that will make your CPU thermal throttle.

I purchased this laptop and am returning it for the g15 2021 recommended. I would definitely not purchase this laptop..it looks very attractive, but the cpu spikes are around 100c and trigger the fans very early even on very small tasks. Most likely not the upgrade you would think it is.

I remember when Intel sold dual core i7s in laptops (i7 7200u was it?). This is just more of the same. However market this as a gamming laptop is beyond ridiculous. The worst part is the software scheduler on Nvidia cards that bottlenecks the CPU ever further. On laptop scenarios, I would go as far as to say that a gamming laptop should have 8 cores at least. The battery life is also a joke and is generally much better on amd CPUs.

i got msi gp65 looks like vrms doesnt use thermal pads but a paste, we can use any thermal paste there? also i heard we can use k5-pro, or better switch to thermal pads but with what dimensions?

i would like this with a 5900HS; i am of the believe that ppcm is more important than just the pure resolution number so to me 1080p is still very sharp with 40cm screen so if there is a laptop out there with a 5900hs CPU, 32gb of RAM 3200 in Dual Channel, a 3070m & a really high quality 1080p120hz display (OLED or really quick IPS with GtG response times quicker than 7.0ms) while also being really thin i'd dig it and also save up for it.

I don't see what the problem with quad core. It doesn't bottleneck and in laptop, it should run cooler. Also single threaded performance is higher due to that extra thermal headroom and that's what matters more in games. The only real issue is small battery. Otherwise a very solid laptop and imo more rational config than Zephyrus.

? The problem was explained in the video. It's being outperformed by a six core, older counterpart in a cheaper laptop. It renders slower, it compiles slower, and bottlenecks faster.

yeah im currently using one and it has been a good laptop to me, Slim, light, ok battery life (put it in battery saving mode) it last 5-6 hour, powerful enough for all the game, i recommend for who is working in office and want to play some game and so some editing.

Virtually every company would behave this way if it could. Red, green, blue... doesn't matter. They all want a majority of the market share. I think Intel's definitely rebounded a bit in the laptop space with its newer Tiger Lake-H (non-35) processors, but I've yet to get my hands on one.

Hello, I bought this laptop(before seeing this video) when it was on sale for about 300 USD off, and I can confirm everything he is saying: the battery life is terrible when off the charger and it is most certainly loud and hot. The core count is disappointing for anything but gaming, but that being said if you only plan on gaming while it's pugged in(that's what I do, but make sure to limit the battery charging to 80 percent in dragon center) then its a decent laptop. The keyboard is nice and so is the trackpad, the screen is fine and 120 hz refresh rate seems about perfect from I have played on it, as that's around the most you're going to get in fps out of this(depending on your settings), and it's VR ready if that's what you want to do. It's also absurdly thin for what it packs. But I would not recommend buying this if you find it a full price (around 1,600 USD at Best Buy), as it's simply not in the performance range it should be in for its price.

I think the purpose of this laptop is portability. If performance is the main goal, there are certainly better options, but none of them will be this portable.

Hello! I'm having an issue with my editing rig. I tried to update my BIOS when I got a new mobo a few months ago, but I couldn't. I was busy at the time so I just left it alone. Now I've had to RMA my Corsair Vengeance LPX cuz one of my DIMMs just stopped working one day, and I can't get it to POST with any sort of OC on the new RAM kit, even just the factory XMP. Really at a loss, but I feel like it is something I'm doing/not doing. Not a CMOS issue; not a RAM, CPU, or GPU seating issue; it has enough power, it's getting stuck at the DRAM debug LED, and I can't get any display-out even after CMOS resets. Any suggestions??

I have recently purchase the new legion 5 with the rtx 3070 and the duzen 7 5800h and I must say it’s the best gaming laptop for the price range I have ever tried and test benched. I bought it yesterday and after watching some videos about it reading some comments like yours I canceled my order immediately and bought an Acer laptop which has same GPU and a better 6 cored CPU.Hope I did the right thing.

Same here. I bought this one when it came out but the RTX 2060 and at first when I first started using it to live stream and game it worked amazing and now it's throttling like a mf.

I am very happy with this product, but that is because i am strictly a gamer, and aerospace engineering major, it runs solid works, adobe, and some pretty intensive games like rdr2 and cyberpunk, at very playable levels, not to mention i got a fantastic 25 precent off deal for it so i ended up only paying 1k

I just got it for $730 and I think its performance for everyday tasks and AAA Gaming with external displays are both excellent

@@Voonk2001 nice, had the thinv for around a yead now and it still runs very well, some heat dispursion issues so maybe check up on the thermal paste regularly, but other than that its great

the point of a laptop though is that it’s litterally the only solution if you need to use a PC anywhere you go... so unless you always have a sufficient desktop wherever and whenever you actually need one... you know...

Nah, "a butget camera from the early 2000s" would be 640x480 or even lower, this is actually pretty decent.

@@GregSalazar A cheap/budget 2005 (never mind 2000-03) digital camera would record video in... 640x480. Such as Canon Powershot SD600 Sony Cybershot DSCS60 Nikon Coolpix 4600 Sony Cybershot S90 Canon Powershot A610 etc. etc. etc. All of which recorded in 640x480 or 320x240. Even the $600 (not budget) 2005 (not early 2000s) Kodak Easyshare P880 was limited to 640x480. And all of these looked way, way, worse than this.

These are $1250 and the onchip gpu can handle streaming. I bought one, but the Predator uses the 105w GPU and is only priced at $40 more. I'd have bought it, but it screams gamer and I can't have that. I think rating this 4/10 was hugely unfair.

A friend of mine bought an MSI gaming laptop for like $1,800. The screen bevels were too tight and caused the screen to crack down where it attached. No way to loosen them. Shortly after the motherboard fried itself. This is barely a year old and MSI customer service sucked. We are building him a desktop machine now - but we both will never buy any MSI part again. My Acer Predator Helios 300 is still working great.

I think I’d prefer a 720p camera and mic like what’s featured in this laptop then none at all. We don’t all need 2-4K cameras for a majority of today’s uses. Unless your performing brain surgery with a laptop camera where detail is needed, I won’t complain as long as my laptop had one.

i despise intel's confusing naming of their mobile CPUs. like honestly i don't even look at the core i number anymore. i don't care if it's an i5 of i7 or anything i just look at the SKU number. example: core i5 6200U. it's branded a core i5, but from the name and even the features of core count and clock speeds, it's actually much closer to an i3. core i7 11375H? branded as a core i7, still sounds like somewhere between an i3 and an i5. i4? even the G variants cause you see "G7" at the end you'd think it's a good CPU, but that G number is only about the integrated graphics and don't mean anything in a gaming laptop since you're gonna be using the dedicated gpu to game. so yeah, i will always look up the specs of a CPU so i don't fall into the trap that the average consumer falls into which is "i need a core i7 of a new generation". no not all of them are the same.

I own this laptop and I can't say I have had many problems with it I will admit the battery life is very low but to fix the speaker quality just get some good headphones and a cooling pad so your laptop dosnt turn into a south Korean nuke
