hello im a very big fan of you keep up the good work :) just wanted to say that i have a suggestion you can do a video of how to test different electronic component with multimeter to check if they are bad or not and another video on what to do in order to replace a bad electronic component i mean for example in case you are working on a laptop and you found a bad mosfet what to do how to find its alternative or at least where to find that part on other laptops etc and you can add these videos to beginner lessons playlist best regards and again i love your work :)

First rule in SMT rework - When replacing an IC clean the pads and then replace. All the legs will then sit on the pads on the board: when re-soldering use hair fine thickness around 0.2mm 60/40: Solder one of the legs in each corner of the chip: Then thread the solder underneath the legs: Use a blade head when soldering: run the blade head across the legs, every leg will then be equally soldered: job done. WAS THERE A PART 2 TO THIS?, PSI have kept an old Seagate Barrucuda drive from the mid 1990 s that I damaged/burt the main chip on the hard drive circuit board.. this is the kind of never give up attitude that inspires your viewers!!!..

This is all your fault Sorin. ;-) I keep going to the recycling centre, getting dead laptops and fixing them. Fixed all 4 with various IO chip, capacitor sort to ground and mosfet related problems. Now i have working laptops and no ac adaptors for them only my lab power supply. I was hoping to have some dead ones for backup components.

You should plug the charger when the battery is connected to enable the starting chip.. You cant expect it to work without the battery. that is from my experience with msi g laptops

You can test the caps on top of the PCH see is they are shorted , You can Test the data lines of the usb ports to see if the PCH is shorted

In my laptop there was a damage to the usb2.0 socket, after initial measurements it turned out that between the mass and the date - there is 10 ohms and between the date + and the mass is about 60 kohm. there is also a high impedance between vcc (5V and ground. The laptop is msi ge62 2qd motherboard ms16j21 ver1.0. is it possible that there is some element between the bridge and usb that could be damaged and ground date-. I found a diagram on the vinafix website but it is a bit too expensive for me to download it. and the free versions of the schematics may not be complete. generally the laptop works fine, the temperatures oscillate between 40-50 degrees and the other components work. Please advise what could be done with it, how to save these usb and is it profitable and how much can it cost.Thanks in advance for all suggestions

Hello Sorin, I have an Asus N552vx. I took it to a local shop to fix broken hinge. The repair guy did the same mistake with the display cable. Now the laptop does not turn on. In my case when I plug in the charger or press the power button ( while running on battery) the chipset gets too much hot. Can the laptop be fixed? This quarantine period is too much difficult to pass without having a computer. Thanks

I burned the screen connector right off the board on my ROG G73 doing the same thing years ago, forgot to unplug the battery.

Sorin, buy yourself a SVOD3 Programmmer, maybe that KBC chip just needed to be reprogrammed not replaced? Its nice to check that first before replacing it. Also, SVOD3 have alot of other awesome posibilities of use. Check it out, you wont regret it :)

49:04 I'm not sure about that diagnose. Ok chipset is getting hot during short-test, but I'm remember how did you solder back the super i/o chip. for me - on one side all legs are touching each other pads at 19:08. So to be sure - I suggest to take out again the super i/o chip and then repeat short-test on the coil. Even if you solder that chip good, without shorts - then the chip can be bad itself. Super i/o and the chipset are talking together, so if the super i/o is badly shorted, it could makes temporary shorts on the chipset.

Let's assume all the pins of sio chip are joined together, all shorted. The way how the electricity works, the current it will travel to ground using the shortest way, on our case the chipset. Chipest resistance generate heat which is normal according with the ohm law. The main problem, 0 ohms chipset internal resistance :)

@@electronicsrepairschool thank you for answer. and yes, but :) what about this idea: Two coils very close to each other (far away form cpu) means (on laptop boards) that they are main 3.3 and 5 rails. So you have strong short on 3.3V or on 5V rail. Let say that 3.3V or 5V goes to s/io chip on that shorted side to one pin, but If you have shorted 30 legs together on that side, it means that 3.3V or 5V will try to go everywhere there thru each legs. Some of that legs can be connected to chipset. Data lines, other ideas, etc. Maybe one of that leg is chipset ground or partial ground, or connection in part of that chipset which can "drain" ground from other places from that chipset. I mean - if you have very complicated two chips, which are huge amount of legs/pads - as super i/o and the chipset -it is not that simple as you've said: here is plus, there is ground, low resistance - so it means dead chip. I'm not saying that you are wrong. I'm saying that you should take up/take out super i/o chip again to be sure for 100% that chipset is dead.

Take out the cpu, and measure the 3.3v see if there still had a short, don't forget that your colleague had applied thermal paste to the cpu and there is a big heat sink on top of it, excessive heat would dissipate quickly .

@@BaliwNaL I think that my chipsets are bad due to capacitors on top of the chipset shorted, and the majority of capacitors around chipset are shorted as well. Also, chipsets are somewhat discolored compared to functional board chipset. I was able to make the board work for a minute by pressing down on a chipset.

Hello I dont know find schematic for MSI GS60 MS-16H6 can somebody help me ? Laptop is total off and I would like to repair it by my self. I have write some notes etc it has blown some SMD component near the LCD cabel, notebook dont start at all no sign of life nothing See lots of yours video already bought multimeter. I repair notebooks but only cleanig them or etc. Thank you

On some laptops the lcd enable comes from the pch (chip set) so he shorted 19v backlight to 3.3v enable , Replace the pch :)

Is it possible to connect some kind of screen (10 or more inches) to mobile phone motherboard with broken screen? Mobile phone has good specs but for me LCD is very expensive to replace, so I thought It would be nice to use it as "Android desktop".

Make a short killer to blow up shorted component. Use any mobile phone battery, remove the circuit board and use only the terminals. Use 3 battery in parallel mode to get around 50A & 3.8V
